This Spanish 2 lesson focuses on reflexive verbs and vocabulary. Students will take a formative assessment quiz using Socrative.com. They will then write a short composition about their morning routine using at least 15 vocabulary words and present it to the class. Students can do a live presentation or use the website Blabberize.com to create an audiovisual presentation. Their presentation will be evaluated on a rubric assessing use of vocabulary, fluency, conjugation of reflexive verbs, and structure/comprehension. The assessments and presentation options allow for differentiation to meet student needs and strengths.

I. Planning
Lesson Summary and Focus
Today students will start the class by using transition words in sentences. This will be done with a short fill-in-the-blank sentence worksheet to be done independently. After this, students will write sentences using their vocabulary words in an around-the-room activity. Lastly, as a class we will work on starting to compare and contrast two articles we have read.
Classroom and Student Factors
This is an eighth grade instructional special education classroom with eight students; three boys and five girls. All students have IEPs, a majority of the students have increased their reading skills to be at sixth to seventh grade level. I have only two students who are below a sixth grade reading level. I also have one student who is very private and shy about participating in the classroom; she is on anxiety medication to help her relax in the school environment. Students are in their last quarter before they become freshman in high school. Currently the school is also taking the state’s assessment which requires all computers in the building to be used for only this purpose for the month of April.
There are a lot of factors that come into play when creating lessons for my classroom. It is nearly impossible to have students be able to work with computers in the classroom since our state assessment is done on the computers. I can still introduce students to new types of technology by projecting images and Prezi’s on the whiteboard for students to see. Using the smartboard, students can actively participate with notes and online games as a class.
Another factor that I have to consider is to provide appropriate readings for all my students to comprehend. My Cooperating Teacher told me that the students can read a higher level article at a slower pace and done so as a class rather than as an individual. When picking my articles for students to do their compare and contrast unit I picked a topic that would be interesting to them.
Another factor that needs to be addressed is that students are not able to have access to any technology resources in the building due to our state assessment is currently using all of them to complete PARCC testing for the month at our building. Students may also be a bit more distracted today because they are visiting their future high school (“Step Up Day”) after this period. Their minds may not be focused in the classroom right now, but I will do my best to push for engagement.

Technology Lesson
This 9th grade Spanish lesson plan focuses on teaching vocabulary related to accidents and hospitals. Students will read a story on this topic, practice vocabulary, and create a final project in small groups using various web tools. For their project, students will choose to make a comic, audio recording, sketch, commercial, newscast, or game about an accident scenario using terms they learned. The lesson incorporates state standards for language learning and technology use.
Curricular Integration Project - Lesson plan
This Spanish 2 lesson focuses on reflexive verbs and vocabulary. Students will take a formative assessment quiz using Socrative.com. They will then write a short composition about their morning routine using at least 15 vocabulary words and present it to the class. Students can do a live presentation or use the website Blabberize.com to create an audiovisual presentation. Their presentation will be evaluated on a rubric assessing use of vocabulary, fluency, conjugation of reflexive verbs, and structure/comprehension. The assessments and presentation options allow for differentiation to meet student needs and strengths.

Lesson Summary and Focus
Today students will start the class by using transition words in sentences. This will be done with a short fill-in-the-blank sentence worksheet to be done independently. After this, students will write sentences using their vocabulary words in an around-the-room activity. Lastly, as a class we will work on starting to compare and contrast two articles we have read.
Classroom and Student Factors
This is an eighth grade instructional special education classroom with eight students; three boys and five girls. All students have IEPs, a majority of the students have increased their reading skills to be at sixth to seventh grade level. I have only two students who are below a sixth grade reading level. I also have one student who is very private and shy about participating in the classroom; she is on anxiety medication to help her relax in the school environment. Students are in their last quarter before they become freshman in high school. Currently the school is also taking the state’s assessment which requires all computers in the building to be used for only this purpose for the month of April.
There are a lot of factors that come into play when creating lessons for my classroom. It is nearly impossible to have students be able to work with computers in the classroom since our state assessment is done on the computers. I can still introduce students to new types of technology by projecting images and Prezi’s on the whiteboard for students to see. Using the smartboard, students can actively participate with notes and online games as a class.
Another factor that I have to consider is to provide appropriate readings for all my students to comprehend. My Cooperating Teacher told me that the students can read a higher level article at a slower pace and done so as a class rather than as an individual. When picking my articles for students to do their compare and contrast unit I picked a topic that would be interesting to them.
Another factor that needs to be addressed is that students are not able to have access to any technology resources in the building due to our state assessment is currently using all of them to complete PARCC testing for the month at our building. Students may also be a bit more distracted today because they are visiting their future high school (“Step Up Day”) after this period. Their minds may not be focused in the classroom right now, but I will do my best to push for engagement.

Objectives of Lesson/Learner Objective
The students will be able to demonstrate their problem solving ability by working backward through word problems both in small groups and by themselves. The students will be able to show their work and complete the word problems using the work backward method as a group with no errors. The students will complete word problems individually using the backward method with 90% accuracy.
Anticipatory Set/Motivation/Snappy Launch
With your head full of brains and your shoes full of feet, you’re to smart to go down any not so good street. (“Oh the Places You’ll Go”, by Dr. Seuss)
Everybody needs to be able to solve real-life problems, and going forward doesn’t always take you down the right street. Today we are going to discuss a problem solving method that requires you to work backward.
Materials Needed/Preparation
I will provide the students with worksheets containing word problems.
Students need pencils, have some on-hand in case students don’t bring a pencil.
Procedure
1. I will go through two word problems using the “work backward” method.
2. After going through the first problem, I will define the work backward term.
3. Split into small groups and have the students come up with a word problem that requires using the work backward technique to solve. Solve the problem on a separate piece of paper, but keep the answer a secret. Trade problems with another group, and solve their problem. Compare answers.
4. Provide a worksheet with a couple word problems that will require using the work backward method of problem solving.
Vocabulary
1. Work Backward: When given the result of a sequence of operations, you can work backward to find the amount with which the sequence began. Discuss this definition in terms that are meaningful for all the students.
Examples
Example #1 (work backward)
The cat in the hat went to the flea market and spent $9.75. He bought some green eggs and ham, thing # one, and thing # two. The green eggs cost $1, the ham cost $1.25, and thing #1 cost $3. How much did thing #2 cost.
(9.75 – 1 – 1.25 – 3) = 4.50
Work Forward: Check your work by adding up all the components to get the result.
Example #2 (work backward)
On Monday there are 50 star bellied sneatches on the beach. That day, 8 star bellied sneatches had their stars removed. On Tuesday, 13 more star bellied sneatches had their stars removed. On Thursday, there were only 19 star bellied sneatches left on the beach. How many star bellied sneatches had their stars removed on Wednesday?
(50 – 8 – 13 - 19) = 10

cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,

How I would use it? -On the first slide where it asks the kids to write out different words that are associated with plants, I would have words of the week for students to work on spelling out. -On the second slide it has the students labeling the parts of a plant, I would use this slide to have them label the different parts of a sentence. -On the third slide it has students touch different parts of the lside to have things read to them, I would adapt this by having sentences read to the students and as a class we would decide if the sentence was grammatically correct.
- 5. How I would use it? cont. -On the fourth slide it shows a poem about plants, I would also include a poem on this page for us to talk about as a class. -On the last slide it has students circling the correct terms to match a sentence, I would change this by writing a sentence and having the students come up and fix the errors in the sentences to make them correct.
- 6. How Universal Design Is Supported? -This assignment uses the four ideas in the design process thinking: -Inspiration- students are going along with a theme to help answer questions in a creative process, while drawing on previous experiences. -Design- They are able to experiment with different ways to learn and are able to model and brainstorm new ideas and ways of thinking. -Creation- Students are creating work, reflecting on their answers, and then are able to revise if they are wrong. -Reflection-They can revise and discuss answers with me and their classmates to solidify new ideas.
