5. ECOLUXE LOUNGE Case Study
CHALLENGE
ECOLUXE LOUNGE is a luxury experience created by Debbie Durkin, LA's leading sustainable product placement TV/Film producer and official ABC-producing-partner,
back in 2006, launched at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2007, that celebrates and uplifts brands by aligning purposeful people with social impact, celebrities
and media. Our team was tasked with cultivating media coverage and securing VIP talent attendance with our 2nd-ever drive-thru experience in light of COVID-19.
Due to the pandemic veteran producer Debbie Durkin pivoted the live event business model and pioneered the USA's very 1st celebrity lounge drive-thru back in
September 2020 in the throes of the pandemic with no vaccine in sight, working with the Beverly Hilton Hotel executives and their partner Lysol to install strict CDC
health mandates insuring the health and safety of everyone. Debbie coined the hashtag #EventResponsibly with the belief that it would inspire the world to get back
to business safely. Hilton corporate told her she boosted their reservation bookings globally as a positive result. They invited her to return to the Beverly Hilton to
produce another “Drive-Thru” celebrity event on their main entrance driveway on Oscars’ weekend. With Debbie's longtime strong connections in the entertainment
industry (over 50 years) and those of her creative team, they combined forces to broaden awareness for ECOLUXE LOUNGE, participating brands, and their non-profit
partner. We utilized our extensive network and produced ECOLUXE Awards Season COVID-safe Drive-thru Luxury Experience on Oscars weekend in April 2021 back on
the main entrance driveway of the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA. to expand visibility in the media, elevating brand awareness across a wide variety of
mediums while uplifting brands.
STRATEGY
To distinguish ECOLUXE LOUNGE as more than a drive-thru celebrating the 2021 Awards Season, Debbie's team devised a purposeful strategy to
appeal to talent, media, entertainment VIPS and pop culture influencers alike. In order to facilitate this narrative to the media, we implemented our vast network of
media gatekeepers to effectively reach the participants' key audiences and shine a light on how brands can activate experientially in a safe mode. Our tactics included
not only the loyal and devoted following that ECOLUXE LOUNGE has cultivated over the past 16 years but has expanded into a global audience as well.
RESULTS
We developed a strategic communications roadmap for ECOLUXE LOUNGE which proved to be a resounding success, as we were able to secure
coverage from top-tier media on behalf of our event and all brands involved. As a result of our combined efforts, we secured over 8 billion media impressions in our
recent past two ECOLUXE activations. Highlights included but not limited to PEOPLE Magazine, Hollywood Reporter, Variety Magazine, E! News, Yahoo UK, Yahoo!
News, The WRAP, Entertainment Tonight, Hollywood Life, Us Weekly, NBC New York, NBC Los Angeles, FOX News, MSN, Wonderwall, ABC4TV, and more.
