This document summarizes a study that evaluated whether Doppler echocardiography (DE) variables could predict congestive heart failure (CHF) in dogs with degenerative mitral valve disease (MVD) or dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). Sixty-three dogs underwent physical exams, thoracic radiography, blood tests for natriuretic peptides, and transthoracic echocardiography. Dogs were grouped based on presence or absence of CHF.
