This nationwide cohort study examined the risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE) associated with use of hormonal contraception and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). The study included over 2 million Danish women aged 15-49 followed between 1996-2017. NSAID use was found to increase VTE risk, with the highest risk increase seen in women using high-risk hormonal contraception. NSAID use led to 4-23 additional VTE events per 100,000 women per year depending on contraceptive method used. The study concludes NSAID use poses a greater VTE risk when combined with hormonal contraception, particularly high-risk methods. Women using both should be informed of

Case Study - Leptospirosis
This case study describes a 22-year-old male who presented with fever, chills, muscle aches, nausea, vomiting and loss of lower limb power. He was found to have rhabdomyolysis, acute kidney injury, and abnormal liver function tests. Differential diagnoses included meningitis, sepsis, and viral illnesses like Lyme disease or leptospirosis. Testing eventually revealed the patient had leptospirosis, which can cause hepatic and renal involvement. He was treated with antibiotics and improved clinically over several days before being discharged.

Mercurius is named after the roman god mercurius, the god of trade and science. The planet mercurius is named after the same god. Mercurius is sometimes called hydrargyrum, means ‘watery silver’. Its shine and colour are very similar to silver, but mercury is a fluid at room temperatures. The name quick silver is a translation of hydrargyrum, where the word quick describes its tendency to scatter away in all directions.
The droplets have a tendency to conglomerate to one big mass, but on being shaken they fall apart into countless little droplets again. It is used to ignite explosives, like mercury fulminate, the explosive character is one of its general themes.

Pt. found to be taking regular furosemide alongside salbutamol-containing inhaled medication Unclear when furosemide was commenced, and whether meant to be a regular medication, as patient also on ramipril Unclear how long potassium had been low No other complaints, no chest discomfort, no syncopes/collapse
