Eating disorders are becoming more common on college campuses and pose a major health issue for students. The three most prevalent eating disorders are anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating disorder, which involve extreme dieting, compulsive eating and purging behaviors, and significant weight loss. A survey found that nearly 20% of college students have or previously suffered from an eating disorder. Eating disorders greatly distort body image and self-worth. While challenging to overcome, there are efforts to raise awareness and support for students struggling with these mental illnesses.
