The resurrection of Christ is important for three key reasons: 1) If Christ was not raised from the dead, then our preaching and faith are in vain. 2) Multiple eyewitnesses saw the empty tomb and encountered the risen Christ, proving His victory over death. 3) Christ's resurrection is the guarantee that all believers will also be resurrected to eternal life.

1. Why is the Resurrection of
Christ Important?
1 Corinthians 15:12-14

2. • 1 Corinthians 15:12-14 Now if Christ is
preached, that He has been raised from the
dead, how do some among you say that there is no
resurrection of the dead? (13) But if there is no
resurrection of the dead, not even Christ has been
raised; (14) and if Christ has not been raised, then
our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain.

3. • John 19:32-34 So the soldiers came, and broke the
legs of the first man and of the other who was
crucified with Him; (33) but coming to
Jesus, when they saw that He was already
dead, they did not break His legs. (34) But one of
the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and
immediately blood and water came out.

4. • John 10:17-18 "For this reason the Father loves
Me, because I lay down My life so that I may take
it again. (18) "No one has taken it away from
Me, but I lay it down on My own initiative.

5. • Mark 15:43-46 Joseph of Arimathea came, a
prominent member of the Council, who himself
was waiting for the kingdom of God; and he
gathered up courage and went in before
Pilate, and asked for the body of Jesus. (44) Pilate
wondered if He was dead by this time, and
summoning the centurion, he questioned him as to
whether He was already dead.

6. • (45) And ascertaining this from the centurion, he
granted the body to Joseph. (46) Joseph bought a
linen cloth, took Him down, wrapped Him in the
linen cloth and laid Him in a tomb which had been
hewn out in the rock; and he rolled a stone against
the entrance of the tomb.

7. • Matthew 27:63-66 "Sir, we remember that when
He was still alive that deceiver said, 'After three
days I am to rise again.' (64) "Therefore, give
orders for the grave to be made secure until the
third day, otherwise His disciples may come and
steal Him away and say to the people, 'He has
risen from the dead,' and the last deception will be
worse than the first." (65) Pilate said to
them, "You have a guard; go, make it as secure as
you know how." (66) And they went and made
the grave secure, and along with the guard they
set a seal on the stone.

8. • Luke 24:4-7 While they were perplexed about
this, behold, two men suddenly stood near them in
dazzling clothing; (5) and as the women were
terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, the
men said to them, "Why do you seek the living
One among the dead? (6) "He is not here, but He
has risen. Remember how He spoke to you while
He was still in Galilee, (7) saying that the Son of
Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful
men, and be crucified, and the third day rise
again."

10. • Matthew 16:21 From that time Jesus began to
show His disciples that He must go to
Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders
and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be
raised up on the third day.

11. • Matthew 28:11-15 some of the guard came into
the city and reported to the chief priests all that
had happened. (12) And when they had
assembled with the elders and consulted
together, they gave a large sum of money to the
soldiers, (13) and said, "You are to say, 'His
disciples came by night and stole Him away while
we were asleep.'

12. • (14) "And if this should come to the governor's
ears, we will win him over and keep you out of
trouble." (15) And they took the money and did
as they had been instructed; and this story was
widely spread among the Jews, and is to this day.

13. • 1 Corinthians 15:3-8 For I delivered to you as of
first importance what I also received, that Christ
died for our sins according to the Scriptures, (4)
and that He was buried, and that He was raised on
the third day according to the Scriptures, (5) and
that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve.

14. • (6) After that He appeared to more than five
hundred brethren at one time, most of whom
remain until now, but some have fallen asleep; (7)
then He appeared to James, then to all the
apostles; (8) and last of all, as to one untimely
born, He appeared to me also.

15. • Romans 1:4 who was declared the Son of God with
power by the resurrection from the
dead, according to the Spirit of holiness, Jesus
Christ our Lord,

16. • Acts 17:30-31 "Therefore having overlooked the
times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men
that all people everywhere should repent, because
He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world
in righteousness through a Man whom He has
appointed, having furnished proof to all men by
raising Him from the dead."

17. • Romans 6:4-5 Therefore we have been buried with
Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ
was raised from the dead through the glory of the
Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.
(5) For if we have become united with Him in the
likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in
the likeness of His resurrection,

18. • Ephesians 2:4-7 But God, being rich in
mercy, because of His great love with which He
loved us, (5) even when we were dead in our
transgressions, made us alive together with Christ
(by grace you have been saved), (6) and raised us
up with Him, and seated us with Him in the
heavenly places in Christ Jesus, (7) so that in the
ages to come He might show the surpassing riches
of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
