2. Sichuan Province
Last month in April a devastating
earthquake hit the Chinese
province of Sichuan. Sichuan
province is located in Southwestern
China, and has seen some other
earthquakes over the years.
However this earthquake luckily
wasn’t as strong as the last one
that happened here, measuring at
a 6.6 on the magnitude scale.
Unfortunately, according to sources
numerous after shocks
have followed this quake and have
been causing even more damage to
the places that were already affected.
3. Injuries and Estimated
Damage
As a result of this natural disaster,

followed. As shown by the chart
directly next to this text, you can
also see that the damage created by
this disaster will cost quite a bit
amount of money and time to get
the province of Sichuan back on its
feet.

4. Why Disasters Like This Happen
Lately in the last century, lots of
disaster of the natural kind have
been occurring thanks to area of
the planet called the Ring of Fire.
The Ring of Fire is located on the
edge of the Pacific Plate and
scientists think that because of
the Plate Tectonics theory
volcanic eruption and
earthquakes are happening.
Red triangles represent active volcanoes.
