5.Kamchatka, Russia, Magnitude- 9.0, Nov. 4, 1952
The rst recorded magnitude 9.0 earthquake hit off the east coastline of Kamchatka in 1952. The
quake produced a 43-foot tsunami locally. Initially assigned a magnitude of 8.2, the quake was revised
to 9.0 Mw and a time of about 17 minutes, in later years. A large tsunami resulted, causing devastation
and death of people around the Kamchatka Peninsula and the Kuril Islands. Hawaii was also smacked,
with estimated damages around US$1 million and livestock losses, but no human deaths were found.

the record. Asia doesn’t have much area but is rich in information and technological innovation and this
earthquake created Japan escape of many million brilliant minds. Despite struggling such an enormous
reduction, the govt and individuals came together to reduce the impacts of this earthquake cum
tsunami, and within little time bagged the headline of a superpower again!

shake country, followed by Thailand, Sri Lanka and India
The tsunami affected more deaths than other in recorded history, although some estimates say the
death from the 2010 Haiti earthquake was larger. The tsunami was recorded nearly world-wide on tide
indicators in the Pacific Atlantic and Indian Oceans.

causing such a huge amount of loss.
