Taking part in Earth Hour can make a difference to the whole planet. During Earth Hour, which takes place for one hour on the last Saturday in March each year, landmarks and homes around the world switch off their lights to raise awareness about climate change and energy consumption. With millions of people participating across 154 countries, the small individual actions collectively reduce energy usage and lower pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, which benefits the climate by reducing threats like global warming, sea level rise, and the destruction of habitats that endanger species such as sea turtles and polar bears.
