Earth Day Presentation
Aritrika Ghosh
Introduction
This is a presentation by
Aritrika Ghosh of Class VII
B. This is a presentation of
the Earth. We all know that
Earth Day is a very
important event which
happens on April 22.
Everyone plants a tree to
save the nature and the
Earth. I, Aritrika Ghosh, is
going to present how and
why Earth day is important.
What is Earth Day?
 Earth Day is an annual
event on April 22 to
demonstrate support for
environmental protection.
First held on April 22,
1970, it now includes a
wide range of events
coordinated globally by
EarthDay.org (formerly
Earth Day Network)
including 1 billion people in
more than 193 countries.
History of Earth Day
 It may be hard to imagine that before
1970, a factory could spew black clouds
of toxic smoke into the air or dump tons
of toxic waste into a nearby stream, and
that was perfectly legal. They could not
be taken to court to stop it.
 How was that possible? Because there
was no EPA, no Clean Air Act, no Clean
Water Act. There were no legal or
regulatory mechanisms to protect our
environment.
 In spring 1970, Senator Gaylord Nelson
created Earth Day as a way to force this
issue onto the national agenda. Twenty
million Americans demonstrated in
different U.S. cities, and it worked! In
December 1970, Congress authorized
the creation of a new federal agency to
tackle environmental issues, the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency.

Getting the Word Out about
Earth Day
 Nowadays, people use smartphone
and spread awareness through social
media. We too can spread about Earth
day through social media.
 We can talk about Earth Day with our
friends and family and convince them
to plant trees every month or every
year at least.
 Nowadays, people are suffering due to
the COVID – 19 pandemic. People are
less of oxygen. If we plant trees and
become environmentally friendly, we
can get fresh air and water, less
pollution and stay safe and happy.
Maybe we can also defeat this epic
pandemic’s virus.
Earth Day Resources
We can follow the 3 R’s which
is –
 Reduce
 Reuse
 Recycle
 We can use Solar energy.
Plant trees
Help the environment in many
other ways.
