EAC (Encoded Archival Context) is an XML standard that encodes information about creators of archival documents. It provides metadata about creators and links related documents and entities. EAC records have two components - a header with metadata and a context description with information about a single creator. EAC allows archivists to share contextual information and reduces duplication of efforts between repositories.
