10 Airports
6 different security systems
Different operation departments
Different functions
Different roles
15. Reason for change
•Old system platform and lots of different security systems at Arlanda
Airport
•Cost savings - Security operation has been increasing since 911
•More efficient airport operation procedures by centralizing surveillance
•Long term standardizing technical platform at all 10 airports
•Driver to change airport operation that has a conservative way of working
•Objective 1: Same or higher Security quality
•Objective 2: Decrease cost on Security
16. Result after 4 years of development with our technical partner
Stockholm Arlanda Airport and Bromma Airport
Command and Control Centre
Guard
4-11 armed
protecting guards
• Case and incident management
• Dispatch of resources
• Superior Situational awareness of all
activities and resources
• Coordination of airport security resources
and Airport Police
• Integration of all Security System to a role
based Security Management System
• Common IT-infrastructure for Security
systems
• Common platform for remote control and
command
• Business Intelligence to follow up
performance and KPI
17. What made cost reduction possible?
Guard
• Business Intelligence solution on all activities
• Staff activity
• Systems operation
• Possible to follow operation in detail
• Yearly, monthly, weekly, dayly and hourly
Security resources manned by need but not
lower than minimum level

19. My lesson learned
•Organization and technical development need to go hand in hand
–Whole airport need to be ready for change – From CEO to all departments
–Involvement from all operational departments
–Key persons must be recruited
–You probably need to have new people to drive change in all departments
–Long term planning for whole airport operation
–Well-built KPI-system in place is a big help
•Long term relationship with chosen technical partner
–Technical partner need to know airport operation
–Reference are most important when you decide supplier
