4. Implementation of Ruqyah Therapy
Listening and Reading
the Verses of the Holy
Qur'an with Solemnity
Reciting ruqyah in water
and drinking it
Carry out the technique
of the entire body
rubbing
5. The intensity of the
implementation of an
independent ruqyah carried out
with full confidence will be
healed and do so according to the
instructions given.
7. The time is done after each prayer and every time if
needed for 25 days. The choice of 25 days of
observation is based on Stephen Stahl's opinion that
it takes approximately 10 days for the molecular
changes in the synapse to activate the enzymes that
are in it. The activated enzyme will re-start a series of
post-synapse activities if repetitive stimuli occur and
will affect structural changes in neurons
8. The Result
1. There are differences in the mean cortisol levels in cancer patients who do
independent ruqyah therapy and who don't do independent ruqyah
2. There are differences in the mean value of depression in cancer patients
who do independent ruqyah therapy and who do not do ruqyah
independently
3. There are differences in the average value of quality of life in cancer
patients who do independent ruqyah therapy and who do not do
independent ruqyah
4. There are differences in the average value of the quality of spiritual life in
cancer patients who do independent ruqyah therapy and who do not do
independent ruqyah
5. The role of Independent ruqyah is very important as part of palliative care
in cancer, especially in the period of treatment or radiation therapy to
maintain the quality of life of patients so that life expectancy for cancer
patients can be increased.
10. Islam is a perfect religion and contained a
good effect on various aspects including
in the problem of health.
Health and illness become part of the continuum of being,
and prayer remains the salvation in both health and sickness.
It is narrated that the Prophet Mohammad (P.B.U.H.) said
that: ‘‘The prayer of the sick person will never be rejected,
until he recovers” and Muslim patients understand that
illness, suffering and dying are part of life and a test from
God.
11. There are considerable prayers for Muslims in the
Islamic rituals, which resolve stress and which ensure
their survival in a world beset with increasing strife and
conflict. There are seven tools used by Muslims, one of
them is increased dhikr
The threatens chronic illnesses such as cancer not only
the patient’s physical body but also their spirit, and dhikr
/ prayer is avaluable coping strategy for Muslim cancer
patients
12. In a research by Mahboubeh Rezaei et al in 2008 at Iran city which
explains the relationship between demographic characteristics like
age, sex, marital status, and educational level that is influential
factors affecting the importantrole of prayer in Iranian people( 360
patients over 20 years of age) with cancer undergoing
chemotherapy.
Data were collected using an Adapted Prayer Scale
(A.P.S.) developed by Meraviglia—a specific indicator of
prayer for cancer patients which will be distributed
questionnaire to cancer patients.
13. Result
Patients with age of
more than 60 years,
female,widowed and
divorced, and patients
with primary education
had higher scores for
prayer activity,prayer
experience, and attitude
toward prayers than the
others. (Chart 1,2,3).
Significant differences were
also observed between the
age groups, marital status,
educational level and prayer
experience as well as
attitude toward prayer
(P≤0.001). However, no
significant difference was
observed between gender
and prayer experience as
well as attitude toward
prayer (P>0.05).
14. Age
Our results suggest that patients with age over 60 years had
higher scores. Prayer is a therapeutic intervention that can
produce overall positive health outcomes both physically and
mentally for the elderly and can be a powerful tool for coping
with the many changes that older adults must experience.
Personal Characteristics
15. Marital Status
In this research indicated that significantly higher inwidowed and divorced patients. A
person who has just been through a divorce often loses a major source of family and social
support. Chronic illnesses like cancer can exacerbate this stress. Prayer may induce
asignificant relief in these crises by promoting asense of connectedness with God and this
can be animportant source of support.
16. Gender
The self-report of prayer in women was more than men. There appear
to be differences in the way men and women handle stresses and the
differences appear to be related much more to emotion, personality, and
sociology than to biology.
17. Educational Level
Patients with primary education
demonstrated higher scores than other
educa-tional groups. These findings are
similar to otherstudies.
18. - Prayer and spiritual healing was the most commonly used method
of complementary medicine among Iranian cancer patients. The
patients do not have to pay for spiritual healing and prayer.
Muslims who areaffected by ill health may find that their spiritual
beliefs and practices can be a source of comfort in alleviating
physical and spiritual distress. For Muslims, wholeness is seen as
interconnected between body, mind, and spirit, and hence the belief
in the resurrection of the physical body aswell as the spirit -
19. Effects of Zikr Meditation and Jaw
Relaxation on Postoperative Pain,
Anxiety and Physiologic
Response of Patients Undergoing
Abdominal Surgery
20. Aim of the study: To examine the effects of zikr
meditation and Jaw relaxation on reducing
postoperative pain, anxiety and physiologic
response.
•The surgical experience and hospital
environment is an anxiety-provoking event. Pain and
anxiety are the most common distressing adverse
effects in the early postoperative period. Routine
pharmacologic Methods may impair the recovery of
patients for their sedative and emetic effects.
Therefore, patients’ relaxation is the cornerstone for
a successful post operative pain & anxiety
managements and it is among the interventions
addressed to improve physiologic response.
21. The Study Design: Randomized controlled
design was carried out, with an experimental
and control group, pretest-posttest.
Research Hypotheses: Patients who
practiced zikr meditation & Jaw relaxation
exercise in experimental group have less
pain, anxiety and physiologic parameter
than in control group & pre intervention.
23. Setting: This study was conducted at surgical wards in
Mansoura University Hospitals. Is teaching hospital for medical
and nursing students. In addition hospital provide wound
dressing twice a day after surgery. Also, allow patients to
discharge home early after surgery, in case the patient has no
complications. Patients are admitted to the hospital one or two
day before surgery.
24. Population and Sample: Sample were assigned to two groups,
experimental group N= 20 and control group N=20
Inclusion criteria: Adult patients (18 years to 60 years) scheduled
for major abdominal surgery, which were expected to receive
pain controlling analgesia PCA, to ambulate after surgery, they
were fully conscious, well oriented, and able to communicate
verbally.
Exclusion criteria: Patients with epidural analgesia and patients
with smaller surgeries such as; laparoscopy.
25. Management of pain and
anxiety in surgical patients is
an important concern for
clinical professionals.
The results of this study indicate that patients
undergoing surgery who practice zikr meditation &
jaw relaxation exercise have significantly lower
subjective indices of anxiety and pain, after
following the guideline of Zikr meditation & jaw
relaxation practice. The subjects following the
practice of Zikr meditation & jaw relaxation, showed
statistical significant difference in pain severity at
day 1 (6-8 hours after surgery) and at day 2 (24-30
hours after surgery).
26. However, the result of this study showed that there
was no statistically significant difference between
the two groups in the physiological responses on
day 1 and day 2. These responses included the
systolic and diastolic blood pressure, heart rate,
and respiratory rate.
Therefore, zikr meditation & jaw relaxation
therapy could be incorporated into clinical
practice as a routine nursing intervention before
and after abdominal surgery.
