Aim- To Explore the Flora of
Rajgarh District of (M.P.)
.
Rajgarh district of Madhya Pradesh has been unexplored
from floristic point of view. A perusal of literature reveals
that there is no publication pertaining to the floristic
composition of the area. It was therefore it was thought
imperative to undertake the botanical survey of this
unexplored but floristically rich district of state.
The studies were initiated from September 2009 and
continued till September 2013.

CONCLUSION
As a result of periodic surveys of various parts of Rajgarh district aimed
at Floristic composition, purely confined to Angiosperms, it is concluded
that-
• Family Leguminosae tops in the number of species in this area with 83
species followed by family Asteraceae with 45 species. The family
Graminae (Poaceae) occupies 3rd position with 35 species.
• Family Euphorbiaceae is placed at 4th position with 35species. However,
family Graminae (Poaceae) is the highly dominant in upper Gangetic
plain (Duthie 1903- 1920); Bihar & Orissa (Haines, 1921- 1925); and
Rajasthan (Blater & Halberg, 1920). In the Flora of Bhopal, it occupies 3rd
rank.
• There is high degree of phytodiversity in terms of morphology, size and
longevity of the plants encountered in the present area of investigation.
