The DURGAPUR PROJECTS LIMITED is a Government of West Bengal Enterprise and an ISO 9001; 2000 Certified
Company in corporate on 6-th September, 1961. It is the brainchild of late Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, the first chief
minister of West Bengal Industrial Development of West Bengal.
Company location :
1. POWER PLANT 2. COKE OVEN PLANT
3. WATER WORKS : The water works has two types of consumers ; Industrial, Domestic.
In a coal-fired stream station —much like a nuclear station—water is turned into steam, which in turn
drives turbine generators to produce electricity. Here are some process or steps to a coal to electricity
production;
coal -> conveyor -> Boiler -> Steam Turbine -> Generator -> Electricity cables -> transformer ->
pylons -> Sub stations .

In Durgapur Plant city Industries area depends and Production and collect their
Materials via nearest industries . many plants of Durgapur City was collect power
energy from DPL.
In DPL current Manpower is total 3274 .
In Durgapur Project Limited the Student of trainee are observed HR practices in Power plant no. 4 & 5 are
below;
Health:-
 Ventilation
 Lighting
 Drinking water
 Latrines and urinals.
Safety :-
• Lifting devices
• Floors and stairs
• Fire prevents
• All heavy machines are automated controlled.
Welfare Amenities :-
• Sitting arrangements for employees who are required to work in standing position.
• First- aid boxes are ready for emergency service during duty hours.
• Ambulance rooms, Ambulance are available.
• 4 canteens are available.
• Rest rooms /lunch rooms with drinking water are available.
• Fire Brigade car with fire brigad workers are available.
Working hours :-
Working hours total 3 shifts with 8 hour timely duty.
PROBLEMS IN DPL:-
Majors problems faced by DPL in functioning that are given below;
 Production loss
 Insufficient production
 Poor supply of raw materials
 Old machineries
 Post vacant, too many pressure in management
 Weak in Management
 Poor policy maintaining Condition
 Multiplicity of Trade Unions
 Lacking from the use of updated knowledge.
Suggestions to overcome the problem
Suggestion's how to overcome the problems ;
 Use updated knowledge and renovation
 Recruitment needs
 Renovation of old machineries
 Policy and management strong
LEARNING :- I learn and gather knowledge in respect of the matters of the
organization during this training period;
 Various methods of management and development were learnt in a significant way by Sri.
Samaresh Maity, Asstt. Manager (P/A).
 Organization policy plays an important role in any organization.
 I learnt some methods, Act that is including in a plant/factory Act.
 I learnt the environment of works in a factory/plant.
 We came to know the objectives of HRM and the duties of a HR Manager, imparted by the
senior Executives of the Durgapur Project Limited.
