Several popular clothing and accessory retailers including Forever 21, Charlotte Russe, and Wet Seal were found to be selling purses, belts and shoes containing high levels of lead according to tests conducted by the Center for Environmental Health. Lead exposure can cause neurological damage, especially in young children. The groups are calling on these retailers to remove lead-containing products from their stores and to be more vigilant about product testing going forward to protect customers, especially children, from the harmful effects of lead exposure.
