Dead weight compression tester
The Dead Weight Compression Tester is designed to perform either as a single test to investigate the effect of deformation, creep, collapse or failure as part of a sequence of tests designed to measure the ability of a package, to withstand a distribution system that includes a compression hazard.
The Dead Weight Compression Tester may also be used to investigate performance under conditions of loading, as for example, when the bottom package in a stack rests on an open-decked pallet.
Mattress compression tester - IDM
The Mattress Compression Tester is used to evaluate a degree of firmness common within the mattress
and foam industries, either in the laboratory, or on the production line.
This universal measurement of firmness and hardness is based on a physical property called the indentation force deflection (IFD) and is calculated by determining the force required to deflect the test piece a percentage of its original thickness using a circular indenter.
The circular indenter foot applies a force, while also recording the degree of indentation. To compare test results, test pieces must be of the same size and thickness. The whole article may be used if moulded shapes are being tested.
Manual sample cutters

Coefficient of linear thermal expansion tester
This instrument is used for determining the linear change of a refractory caused by a change in temperature and to ascertain the reversibility of these characteristics. It may also be used to determine the expansion and contraction characteristics of raw materials and refractories that do not exhibit reversible linear changes with increasing temperature.
Crease bend tester
The Crease Bend Tester is used to monitor scoring equipment to ensure box performance by measuring the bending resistance of creased board at the crease at the time of folding. Samples are pneumatically clamped down, and the maximum force required to bend the sample board is automatically measured. The peak force measured is then displayed on the screen until the next test.
By measuring crease bends with, and against the grain of the board, corrugated converters can use the Crease Bend Tester to aid in making adjustments to improve quality, ensuring the end user will have boxes that run effectively on their production line.
Box compression tester series
IDM Instruments manufactures several models of box compression testers - the B0009, B0010, and B0011 - to evaluate packaging materials under compressive loads. The testers apply precise linear force using a servo electric system and measure load and sample deflection. They include features like four load cells, a linear transducer, and ball screw driven crosshead for accurate testing between 0.1-250 mm/min at varying force capacities and sample sizes up to 1200x1250 mm.
