Danaos (www.danaos.gr) is one of the largest software providers for the world-
wide maritime sector. I am the most Senior Director, Head of the Sales and
Customer Support Departments. I am directly responsible for all the customer
interaction activities of the company, ranging from presales, consultancy,
negotiations and contract closure actions, leading the Customers to project
implementation, managing diverse teams of specialists to deliver complex
products and services, and overseeing the overall customer support, retention
and long-term satisfaction activities. In the presales area I oversee a network of
10 sales and representation offices located in the most important maritime hubs
of the world. In the project implementation and aftersales areas I oversee a total
of about 60 analysts, consultants, supporters, technicians and programmers. I
manage most of the daily activities of the company and report to the CEO. Since
my hiring in 2005 my company has roughly doubled its annual revenue primarily
due to a healthy expansion in the international market where it has secured
major implementation projects with very large government and private sector
customers.

I was the Owner and Director of the P. Nomikos & Associates Maritime ICT
Consultancy. Major clients and projects of the consultancy have been as follows:
 Stelmar Tankers: During 2001 – 04 I had been consulting with Stelmar
Tankers (founded by Sir Stelios Hadjioannou, a well-known model shipping
company managing 40 tankers, listed in NYSE, www.stelmar.com) on ICT
strategy formulation and implementation, ICT project management and
supervision of the ICT Department in the role of the ICT Manager. Stelmar
Tankers was acquired by OSG in 2005.

 TEO Shipping: The consultancy was providing outsourced IT support services
to this shipping company (part of the Theocharakis Group) during the period
2003 – 2005.
 Wallem Shipmanagement: Wallem (based in Hong Kong) is the second
largest shipmanagement company globally. I had been consulting with them
on issues related to application of e-commerce practices.
 AMMITEC: I have been the founder (in 2003) and first President of the
Association of Maritime Managers of Information Technology and
Communications, a non-profit professional Association of the ICT Managers of
major shipping companies (www.ammitec.org). About 150 ICT Managers from
Greece, Cyprus, Scandinavia, Far East and several other countries became
AMMITEC Members. AMMITEC is a very active Association organizing
conferences, educational and promotional events to facilitate the correct
usage of modern ICT in the maritime sector. Through AMMITEC I established
an excellent network of contacts with many major shipping companies and
suppliers of maritime ICT products and services in these areas.
 Hewlett Packard Hellas: I assisted HP Hellas (www.hp.com) to develop and
implement a marketing strategy targeting the maritime sector during 2004.
 NewsLink Services: NewsLink (www.newslinkservices.com) is a daily email
newspaper for seafarers serving 34 nationalities. NewsLink also provides
extensive computer-based training tools for seafarers. My consultancy had
been the representative of NewsLink for Greece during 2003 – 2005.
 Netshipbrokers.com: I setup Internet’s very first online chartering exchange
from 1997 to 2005. It had grown to 6,000 Members from over 100 countries
(www.netshipbrokers.com). During 1999 – 2000 Netshipbrokers received
significant venture capital funding and was relocated for 1 year in London
becoming part of the ShipDesk B2B maritime portal.
 EMS Technologies: The consultancy assisted EMS (a US/Canadian company
developing satellite and military communication systems, www.ems-
technologies.com) to establish a distribution network in Greece and Cyprus for
its Inmarsat Fleet 55 terminal during 2003 – 2004.
 iVen: In 2001 – 2002 I consulted on the establishment of Innovative Ventures
S.A. (www.iven.gr), a business incubator founded by the National Bank of
Greece (the largest Greek bank) and Vectis Capital. I formed a good network
of contacts with Greek VC and other investors and local entrepreneurs.
 Digital Ship: Digital Ship is a leading magazine on maritime ICT topics
(www.thedigitalship.com). I have written many articles for it and I was the
producer of three Digital Ship conferences (Athens, Oslo, Hong-Kong) yearly
during 2003 – 2005, in association with AMMITEC.

1996 – 1997 InfoServe Ltd.
Sales Manager
InfoServe had been a small niche company developing exclusively Lotus Notes
applications. It was the only company in Greece having that expertise. I was the
Sales Manager of the company and within a year I opened approx 10 new
accounts amongst major banks and local branches of the major multinationals.
1995 – 1996 ABC Systems & Software S.A.
Sales Representative
ABC was one of the largest Greek I.T. companies specializing in Networking and
Multiplatform Integration of diverse operating systems in large corporate
computer networks. I was responsible for the evaluation of new technologies and
software products (specializing in Groupware products) for maritime and other
corporate clients of the company and I was overseeing the introduction of those
products into the client organization and for the support of the users.
1991 – 1995 Stelmar Tankers (Management) Ltd.
I.T. Manager
I started my career at the Hadjioannou group of shipping companies. In my first
year I worked as a Programmer/Analyst at the EDP Department of Troodos
Shipping Co. I developed various shipping software modules (accounting, quality
management, communications handling, etc.). When Sir Stelios Hadjioannou
established Stelmar Tankers in September 1992 he offered to me the position of
I.T. Manager. I designed and implemented the I.T. Systems of Stelmar including
all computer and telecommunications facilities (LAN, shipmanagement software,
communications software/hardware, etc).
1991 – 2000 New York College

As a part-time job I have been a lecturer at New York College teaching several
I.T. courses for a few evening hours per week (Introduction to Computer Science,
Computer Applications I and II, Software Constructs and Tools, etc)

1989 – 1991 Research Center of Greek Air Force
Military Service
I did my compulsory military service at the Computer Center of the Research
Facility of the Greek Air Force in Athens. I was a Computer Administrator. In the
final 6 months of my service I was seconded to the University of Piraeus where
I worked as a Research Assistant in the Department of Mathematics. In my free
time I worked as a Development Engineer for Pan-Drive S.A, a pioneering
company developing an electronic navigator for automobiles. I developed
software parts for the product, most important of which was a position-
identification algorithm which formed the core of a demonstration prototype of
the product that received extensive press coverage.
1987 – 1988 Unilever Research Plc
Junior Manager
Upon completion of my Ph.D. I became a Research Engineer at the Port Sunlight
Laboratory of Unilever Research in Wirral, UK. I had a junior Manager post
developing computer models for complex soap-making plants. I familiarized with
the internal working practices of a major multinational company and I received
training on budgeting and financials, project management, safety, etc.
EDUCATION
 1984 - 1987: Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the
University of Sussex in Brighton, UK. In my Thesis I investigated the
application of Self-Tuning Automatic Computer Controllers in industrial
applications.
 1979 - 1984: B.Sc. in Physics from the University of Athens, Greece. My
Final Grade was 72.4 percent.
