• Drones are unmanned aerial vehicles
(UAVs) that are remotely piloted
• Companies such as Boeing, Lockheed-
Martin, Google, and Amazon are
looking into the use of drones

3. What could drones be used for?
• Wildlife Monitoring
• Taking censuses on animals and conducting surveillance on habitat status
• Delivery
• Product delivery from online shopping (Amazon), etc.
• Cargo
• Transporting cargo
• Global cargo drone route
• Military
• Conducting military strikes without putting human troops on the ground
• Humanitarian Relief
• Delivery of medical supplies to areas affected by disease or natural disaster

4. Amazon Prime Air
• Drone deliveries of up to 5 pounds (approximately 86% of all Amazon
deliveries)
• Delivery radius of 10 miles
• Much less expensive than traditional delivery methods

5. Possible Drawbacks
• Controversial public opinion on militaristic use of drone strikes
• Weather could be an issue – will drones work/fly during storms?
• Rules/regulations about flying objects in an airspace
• People can shoot them down
