● Conveys a sense of professionalism
● Helps make a good impression on business clients or customers
● Prevents inappropriate dress in the workplace
● Factors such as poor personal hygiene, sloppy appearance, negative outfit choice, and
body language all can contribute to a candidate not being hired
● How an employee dresses can impact how competent a person perceives that
employee to be

Formal/Traditional
● Formal suit, tie, business shirt, and leather dress shoes. Accessories like
watches and cologne are subtle, and accessories like briefcases are
leather/upscale.
Business Smart
● Sports jacket, button down business shirts or nice turtlenecks, ties, dress
pants, and dress shoes.
Business Casual
● Dress pants or khaki pants, button down shirts or golf shirts with a collar,
sweaters, vests, dress shoes.
