A dreamcatcher is a handmade object based
on a willow hoop, on which is woven a loose
net or web. The dreamcatcher is then
decorated with personal and sacred items
              such as feathers and beads.

DREAMCATCHERS
 They believe that if one is hung above the head of a
sleeper. When bad dreams come, they cannot find their
way through the woven pattern, and become trapped in
the webbing. Good dreams navigate their way through
the centre of the web, however, and they slide down the
lowest-hanging feather to inspire the peaceful sleeper
below. Traditional Ojibwe use dreamcatchers only for
children, as they believe that adults should be able to
interpret their dreams, good or bad and use them in their
                              lives
THE OJIBWE

The Ojibwe originated the dream catcher; they are also known as
“Chippewa” and were once known in antiquity as the “Anishnabe.” The
Ojibwe are among the largest groups of Native Americans–First Nations
north of Mexico. The Ojibwe, whose traditional homeland is around the
Great Lakes region, have many ancient stories about the dream catcher.

birch bark scrolls, use of cowrie shells for trading, cultivation of wild rice, and
use of copper arrow points.

BEACHCOMBING
beachcomber is someone who "combs" (or searches) the beach, and the intertidal
zone in general, looking for things of value, interest or utility, such as shells.

he first appearance of the word "beachcombers" in print was in Herman Melville's
Omoo (1847) It described a population of Europeans who lived in South Pacific
islands, "combing" the beach and nearby water for flotsam, jetsam, or anything else
they could use or trade.

any modern beachcombers follow the "drift lines" or "tide lines" on the beach and
search for objects that the sea casts up. For these people, "beachcombing" is the
recreational activity of looking for and finding various curiosities that have washed in
with the tide, like seashells of every kind and fossils, historical artifacts, sea beans,
sea glass (beach glass) and driftwood.

or as long as I can remember, every time I would go to the beach, I remember
