Dr. Paul Zarda has had a long and accomplished career at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control since 1980. Some of his achievements include acquiring structural analysis software and a pre- and post- processor for the IBM 3084 system in 1980 and 1982. He also helped acquire Lockheed Martin's first VAX 11/780 computer and communication links between IBM and VAX systems. Beyond his career, Dr. Zarda has received recognition for his patented tennis racquet design and his 1974 Ph.D. thesis providing a theoretical explanation for red blood cell deformation.

5. Dr. Paul Zarda has also received recognition across the world
for his patent pending “Tennis Racquet with Adjustable Frame
Isolation”. His tennis racquet is called the Zarda-Top-Spin-
Racquet, or the Z-TSR, and has been designed to provide top-spin
to a rebounding ball using a completely different system as
compared to other racquets on the market. One of the best
features of the Z-TSR is that the isolating system could be
adjusted, replaced or supplemented for making small or large
adjustments in how the racquet performs.

6. In 1974, Dr. Paul Zarda’s Ph. D Thesis provided a theoretical
explanation about large elastic deformations of red blood cells
(RBC), which were computed on the basis of a hypothetical model
of the RBC membrane. The analysis is based on a variational
principle concept which was implemented using a finite element
method. The stages of osmotic sphering were computed & shown
to compare closely with the experimental measurements.
