Dr. Paul Zarda is the Manager at Engineering
Methods Group, Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire
Control, Orlando, Fl. His role involves helping provide
direct support of the engineering community in the
areas of Mechanical Design and Analysis, System’s
Engineering, & Optical Design. This Group is
responsible for providing the hardware, software, &
expertise/training for an engineer to efficiently perform
his/her job.

3. Other Responsibilities at Lockheed Martin
Dr. Paul Zarda is also the Member of the Technical
Staff assigned to Research and Technology in
Technical Operations, Program Manager of the Web-
based Design Environment contract with the Wright
Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB), and Program
Manager of the Supersonic Hypersonic Vehicle Design
contract with WPAFB.

4. Early Career
Dr. Paul Zarda received his Ph.D. in Engineering
Mechanics from Columbia University in 1974 in the
area of bioengineering and biomechanics. He served as
an Assistant Professor in Engineering Science at
Lafayette College in Easton, Pa. for two years (1974-
1976), and then as a research analyst at the David
Taylor Naval Research and Development Center from
1976 through 1978. The same year, he joined
Westinghouse in 1978 where was a Senior Engineer in
the design and analysis of nuclear steam generators. He
joined Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control in
1980.

5. Honors and Awards
Dr. Paul Zarda has received many awards and honors in his
career. Some of his accomplishments include

•UCF’s MMAE Pi-Tau Sigma 2011 Teacher-of-the-Year award
•The title of Inventor for his patent pending “Tennis Racquet
