Doves typically live in dry open nests, though they can also be found in zoos and breeding facilities. In captivity, doves are housed in silver cages with food, water, and a nesting box. Doves originate from Asia but have spread to other parts of the world. They eat seeds, fruits, vegetables, insects, and worms. Doves lay up to three eggs and care for their young until they can fly on their own. When pet, doves close their eyes and coo with head movements. Doves are related to pigeons and commonly white with orange beaks.
