As an adult, butterflies
can life anywhere from
a week to a year. It
depends on which
species it is.
Monarch
Butterflies
A special species, the
monarch butterfly, flies
from Canada to Mexico
every winter to stay
warm. That’s a journey
of over 1,500 miles!
What do
butterflies eat?
They eat nectar from
flowers and help
pollinate too.
How many kinds of
butterflies are there?
There are over 20,000
different kinds of
butterflies in the whole
world.
How fast do butterflies fly?
Most butterflies fly between 5 and 12 mph.
