A TEENAGER has scooped a

business idea in the Young Start-
up Talent for East Kent
competition.
Cameron Smith, 18, was
named the winner at a showcase
final at the Gulbenkian Theatre
in Canterbury on Wednesday.
Cameron, a student at
Ramsgate’s Chatham and
Clarendon Grammar School,
created a business called Made
to Measure, aimed at providing a
reliable and personal cleaning
experience with those who own
second homes.

founders Lorraine Nugent and
Matt Turner, with guest speakers
including Pete Kenyon of Cripps,
Bob Heapy of Town and Country
Housing Group, Mairi Coyle
from the Gulbenkian Theatre
alongside two previous winners
– Sam French of Sam’s Kitchen
and Eden Tiltman of Bales Care
Agency.
Cameron said: “I’m feeling
ecstatic! It’s been hard work but
even if I hadn’t won, the
experience has been amazing.
I’m so pleased!”
Chief executive of Town and
Country Housing, Bob Heapy,
added: “A fantastic process and
it’s a great initiative to be
involved in. We are proud to be
the lead sponsor and it’s brilliant
to see the impact it’s having.”
Pete Kenyon – partner at
Cripps said: “Hugely important
for Cripps to have been part of
such a special organisation, I
definitely feel it is making a
difference to the lives of the
young people involved.”
Judge Tracy Newton
commercial director for Local
World south east newspapers,
including the Isle of Thanet
Gazette, and Times series, added:
“It’s the first time I have been
involved in the process, I
thoroughly enjoyed it from start
to finish. It’s great to see the
amount of talent we have in East
Kent and the entrepreneurial
flair, passion and enthusiasm
each finalist has brought to the
process. Looking forward to next
year!”.
Young Start-up Talent has run
workshops across the East Kent

called Imerzo and is hoping
to adapt in-flight
