Platinum Jubilee - Street Parties
I have had details from the Cotswold District Council about guidance
for holding street parties etc to celebrate the Jubilee.
Permission date for road closures is/was 31st March but they give
advice about other factors to be considered if you want to have a
party.
Considerations include food safety, risk assessment for events and covid. I think for
most of us only the last one will be something we will have to remember. Covid is
still around so we need to do all we can to protect everyone. Ensure ventilation of
indoor spaces is good and there is room to move around, provide sanitiser and have
a few spare masks.
If you are planning a bigger event look up the council websites for full help and
advice. www.cotswold.gov.uk/government/publications/your-guide-to-organising-a
-street-party. There are links there for all the forms and people to contact etc, plus
details of the regulations and ideas of helping you.
Let`s hope it`s a lovely day and we can all be outside to enjoy the occasion. Val T

A society for all practising artists in all media and levels
Inspiring speakers each month…
The Society hosts events on the first Tuesday of each month,
7pm at the Baptist Church, Cirencester.
Members also meet weekly for an informal painting session, and regularly display their
work in local venues as well as a two week exhibition in the Parish Church in the summer.
We had a last minute change of speaker at our March meeting. Cirencester Art
Society were delighted to host an excellent evening of teaching and demonstration
on portraiture with Lizet Dingemans. Lizet, using a life model, demonstrated
techniques for creating a realistic portrait giving many helpful insights as she worked.
We look forward to Christopher Ronus’s teaching later in the year.
Cirencester Art Society will be hosting a demonstration:
“Gravity painted watercolours” with Catherine Beale
On Tuesday 5 April 2022 7.00 – 9.00pm.
At the Baptist Church, Chesterton Lane, Cirencester GL7 1YE.
Catherine specialises in vibrant, “gravity painted” experimental
watercolours. Watch as she constructs a meadow of deep vegetation
by dropping colours straight onto a water-drenched board, mingling
and dripping pigments naturally. After a break, Catherine will layer
dense paint straight from the tube on top of the dry semi-abstract
image, before lifting-off paint to let light back in.
Hot drinks and biscuits available at the beginning. All welcome.
Cost £5 for visitors, £2 for society members. For more information on our
monthly talks, weekly painting sessions, annual exhibition and more, please see our
website: www.cirencesterartsociety.com

Her Government called her a traitor. Based on true events, Official Secrets tells
the story of Katherine Gun (Keira Knightley), a British intelligence specialist who
received a shocking memo in 2003: the United States is enlisting Britain's help in
black-mailing United Nations Security Council members, so they vote in favour of
the Iraq War. Unable to stand by, Gun defies her government and leaks the memo
to the press beginning an explosive chain of events that will ignite an
international firestorm, expose a vast political conspiracy, and put Gun and her
family in harm's way.

New EV charging units installed
By 2030, the sale of combustion engines is due to end with predictions that EV’s
will make up 20% of all cars on the road by that point. Stratton House Hotel is
leading the way towards this transition to emission free transportation through
installing 4 top of the range charging points for electric vehicles.
In partnership, with local installation specialist, EvieLife, the chargers will be
available 24/7 for the hotel’s residents, guests and passers-by. Amanda Wallis
from Stratton House Hotel said, “as part of our green agenda and commitment to
supporting our guests with easily accessible charging points, we are delighted to
be one of the first hotels in the area to offer this service.”
Jon Cummins, joint founder of EvieLife, said “linking up with Stratton House Hotel
aligns with our strategy of supporting local community hubs providing
Cirencester residents and visitors with
convenient points to charge their vehicles’.

Martin and Manifold Vets is a new dedicated
small animal practice, based in Cirencester. Our
practice is independent, and family owned and
is the realisation of a childhood dream for our
vets Alice and Lizzie.
Alice and Lizzie met at Liverpool University
in 2002 and have been firm friends ever since!
They have both been practising in and around
the Cotswolds for the last 15 years and since
qualifying they have maintained a desire ‘to do
veterinary’ a bit differently, and so Martin and
Manifold Vets was born.
Traditional values such as honesty, integrity,
and a genuine love of animals under pin our
practice. We treat patients as treasured
members of the family, creating tailor made
treatment plans for them. There are no sales
targets or performance-based pay schemes at
our clinic, and we give advice and prescribe
treatments based solely on what we believe
will be best for your pet.
Our practice has a small family feel and
endeavours to provide clients with a friendly,
kind and professional service. The clinic is very
well kitted out with all the latest equipment,
including digital X-ray, an in-house laboratory
and ultrasonography.
As well as the more traditional pet cats and
dogs, we are also happy to help with pet
chickens, bearded dragons, tortoises, and
rabbits, to name but a few; as well as small
furry pets (rats, hamsters etc).
We cater for all your small animal veterinary
needs. Including vaccinations, flea & worm
treatments, and neutering, as well as tending
to poorly patients and providing suitable
treatments and surgery when needed. In
addition to this we run pain management,
physio and acupuncture clinics.
You are welcome to pop into the clinic at 6,

Please bring plenty of change! Platinum Jubilee - Street Parties I have had details from the Cotswold District Council about guidance for holding street parties etc to celebrate the Jubilee. Permission date for road closures is/was 31st March but they give advice about other factors to be considered if you want to have a party. Considerations include food safety, risk assessment for events and covid. I think for most of us only the last one will be something we will have to remember. Covid is still around so we need to do all we can to protect everyone. Ensure ventilation of indoor spaces is good and there is room to move around, provide sanitiser and have a few spare masks. If you are planning a bigger event look up the council websites for full help and advice. www.cotswold.gov.uk/government/publications/your-guide-to-organising-a -street-party. There are links there for all the forms and people to contact etc, plus details of the regulations and ideas of helping you. Let`s hope it`s a lovely day and we can all be outside to enjoy the occasion. Val T

  • 5. 01285 641850 Stratton News - April 2022 5 A society for all practising artists in all media and levels Inspiring speakers each month… The Society hosts events on the first Tuesday of each month, 7pm at the Baptist Church, Cirencester. Members also meet weekly for an informal painting session, and regularly display their work in local venues as well as a two week exhibition in the Parish Church in the summer. We had a last minute change of speaker at our March meeting. Cirencester Art Society were delighted to host an excellent evening of teaching and demonstration on portraiture with Lizet Dingemans. Lizet, using a life model, demonstrated techniques for creating a realistic portrait giving many helpful insights as she worked. We look forward to Christopher Ronus’s teaching later in the year. Cirencester Art Society will be hosting a demonstration: “Gravity painted watercolours” with Catherine Beale On Tuesday 5 April 2022 7.00 – 9.00pm. At the Baptist Church, Chesterton Lane, Cirencester GL7 1YE. Catherine specialises in vibrant, “gravity painted” experimental watercolours. Watch as she constructs a meadow of deep vegetation by dropping colours straight onto a water-drenched board, mingling and dripping pigments naturally. After a break, Catherine will layer dense paint straight from the tube on top of the dry semi-abstract image, before lifting-off paint to let light back in. Hot drinks and biscuits available at the beginning. All welcome. Cost £5 for visitors, £2 for society members. For more information on our monthly talks, weekly painting sessions, annual exhibition and more, please see our website: www.cirencesterartsociety.com C G Admission: £6 per adult includes the Fair and Garden. Children under 16 Free. Buy your tickets on arrival at the gate - no need to prebook! No dogs are allowed Parking: Main car park is at the Old Rectory, with overflow parking on the village green (5 min walk). Our practice is independent, and family owned and is the realisation of a childhood dream for our vets Alice and Lizzie. Alice and Lizzie met at Liverpool University in 2002 and have been firm friends ever since! They have both been practising in and around the Cotswolds for the last 15 years and since qualifying they have maintained a desire ‘to do veterinary’ a bit differently, and so Martin and Manifold Vets was born. Traditional values such as honesty, integrity, and a genuine love of animals under pin our practice. We treat patients as treasured members of the family, creating tailor made treatment plans for them. There are no sales targets or performance-based pay schemes at our clinic, and we give advice and prescribe treatments based solely on what we believe will be best for your pet. The clinic is very well kitted out with all the latest equipment, including digital X-ray, an in-house laboratory and ultrasonography.
