Doha is the capital city of Qatar, located on the Persian Gulf coast. It has a population of over 796,947 people, comprising more than 60% of Qatar's total population. Doha has a radio-centric urban plan with a defined city center for commercial uses and a ring-road system. The city contains over 50 skyscrapers and 177 high-rise buildings spread across its more than 20 districts. Doha was founded in 1826 and has experienced rapid development and population growth, especially as Qatar's oil and gas industry has flourished. Environmental issues related to increased energy use and emissions are a challenge the city aims to address through conservation efforts.
