Orthogonal plan
1. Orthogonal plan
• 1-Straight streets intersecting at right
angles
• A)Advantages ; Spacious, being
extended without difficulty ,
facilitating the administrative
division and allowing regular
buildings
• B)Disadvantages; Difficulty of
movement, because the right-angle
intersections of streets impede
adequate visibility at junctions. This
problem is solved with the
diagonals , such as Barcelona
2. Radiocentric plans
• This plan consists a
central point from which
streets radiate and
others cross them
forming concentric circles
• 1-Advantages: Creates
easy communication
between center and
periphery and is adapted
to the landforms
• 2-Disadvantages; Difficult
for vehicles
3. Irregular plans
• It hasn´t got geometric
shape . This is a setr of
narrow and short streets
, irregular plots and dead
ends
• It usually corresponds to
a historic centre
• Disadvantage; Huge
traffic problems and it
hasn´t got parks, gardens
and other open spaces
