Windows Server 2012 on Dell - Great performance and value for the next genera...Principled Technologies
The server and storage solution you choose for your SharePoint workloads can greatly affect the collaborative experience in the workplace. Not only should the servers be powerful enough to deliver a solid experience for the large number of end-users that need to collaborate on documents, the hardware solution should minimize the cost per user to help keep data center costs low. In our tests, we found that we could virtualize SharePoint on two Dell PowerEdge M620 servers and a Dell EqualLogic PS6110XV array and support the same 3,000 users as on the HP ProLiant BL460c Gen8, but at a significantly lower cost. The Dell PowerEdge M620 solution cost only $28.40 per user; 26.0 percent less than the $38.35 per user that the HP ProLiant BL460c Gen8 solution would cost to purchase.
Choosing a server and storage solution that delivers the strong performance your data center requires while providing a lower cost per user can have a positive impact on your IT budget.

CTS Activity Template updates to work with
xCP
The CTS Activity Template has been updated and verified to function with the xCP Process Engine.
The xCP team has launched three CTS xCelerators that are built upon the Activity Template available
with CTS:
• CreatePDFRenditions: Enables a process to create a PDF rendition of an object and save it as a
rendition or as a new object.
• CreateHTMLRenditions: Enables a process to create a HTML rendition of an object and save
it as a rendition or as a new object.
• Merge Virtual Document to PDF: Enables a process to request the merging of components of a
Virtual Document into a PDF rendition and save it as a rendition of the virtual document or
as a new object.
Please refer to the EMC Community website for more information regarding the CTS xCelerators:
https://community.emc.com/docs/DOC-9520. For more information on the CTS Activity Template,
see the chapter, "Installing and Configuring the CTS Activity Template” in the Content Transformation
Services Transformation Suite Installation Guide and the chapter, "Working with the CTS Activity
Template” in the Content Transformation Services Transformation Suite Administration Guide.
EMC Documentum Advanced Document Transformation Services Release Notes, Version 6.7 SP1 15
16. New Features and Changes for Advanced Document Transformation Services 6.7
Option to create new standardized object
during registration analysis
CTS has the ability to generate new standardized renditions on import as part of the CTS registration
process. In 6.7, this feature has been extended so that this generated content can be optionally stored
as new Documentum objects. A relationship between the original source is created for tracking. This
helps support integrations where the consuming application does not understand about renditions
and also enables the standardized content to have different permissions, lifecycles and workflows
from the parent. For example, a protected Word document that is imported could be automatically
transformed to a watermarked, secure, web-ready PDF with World READ permissions.
For more information, see the Content Transformation Services Transformation Suite Administration Guide.
Certification for Windows 2008 Server and
Office 2010
For this release, Microsoft Windows 2008 Server is now supported as a host for Content
Transformation Services products.
Microsoft Office 2010 is now certified as a supported rendering application. As a result, support for
applicable Office 2010 file formats is now available.
Bates stamping (numbering) profile for visual
document identification and tracking
To support customers requiring visual identification and tracking on documents (for example,
legal and medical), Advanced Document Transformation Services now supports bates stamping
(or numbering). A bates stamping transformation is available which will apply the stamp to the
document (a format that can be converted to PDF, including another PDF) using the entered value
and parameters. The result is a PDF rendition of the document that includes a unique bates stamp.
Additional transformation support
Transformation support has been added for:
• HTML Thumbnailing and Web Page Previews
• Open Document Format (ODB, ODF, ODG, ODH, ODP, ODS, ODT) to PDF, PDF/A
• XHTML to PDF, PDF/A
• PNG to PDF, PDF/A

and 6.7 SP1.
Fixed problems in Advanced Document
Transformation Services 6.7 SP1
This section identifies problems that have been resolved, which were previously documented in the
release notes as a known problem or limitation.
The following table lists the defect numbers and a description of the problems fixed in Advanced
Document Transformation Services 6.7 SP1:
Defect # Description of fixed problems
DTS–3762 Boxes over superscript hyperlinks overlap with each other.
DTS-3714 Bullet numbers are missing in the PDF file when there are bookmarks
(hyperlinks).
DTS-3654 After applying the CTS 6.7 patch, the Documentum Administrator and
CTS log files did not reflect the correct CTS product version. This issue
is resolved.
DTS-3609 We fixed the issue where letters in a hyperlink appeared in all capital letters,
even when the capitalization checkbox was unchecked.
DTS-3608 If in a hyperlink in a document the font is selected and the "all caps"
(highlight the hyperlink select Format>Font, under effect) checkbox is
checked off, the rendered hyperlink appears in all caps.
DTS-3604 Hyperlinks break into two lines, and the partial link is not working.
DTS-3572 AdvancedPDF plugin removes
CONVERTUSINGEXTENDEDCADSUPPORT attribute for newly
added DGN format.

20. Fixed Problems
Defect # Description of fixed problems
DTS-3550 The BOM (byte order mark) in NLog.config under the
%CTS%AdlibProcess Manager process is corrupted and,
therefore, does not work on the Japanese Windows 2008 Server operating
system. The right value sequence is 0xEF,0xBB,0xBF, but if your file has
0x81, 0x45, 0xBF, the process does not work. You can work around this issue
by removing 3 bytes or replacing those with the right sequence.
DTS-3487 PDF files with embedded drawings fail to render.
DTS-3467 Too many files with name cts_response_registerXXXX.xml occur in the
C:DocumentumExport folder on the CTS host, thus causing disk drives
on ADTS and MTS hosts to be full.
DTS-3499 Characters after the hyperlink like periods, or brackets, are being included
in the hyperlink, which was not the case in other versions.
To work around this issue create the following registry key:
Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREAdlibAdlib
Express1.0.0Native App SettingsMicrosoft Word
Name: HyperlinkRemovePadding
Type: STRING
Value: 2.2
DTS-3405 When importing multipage PDFs it fails to create storyboard renditions.
Single page PDF works fine
DTS-3401 In storyboard images some font types were getting garbled.
DTS-3320 ADTS renders ppt12 documents into a PDF with a white line through the
middle.
DTS-3037 Missing text in PDF renditions (ADTS 65 SP3 and ADTS 6.6).
DTS-2760 No thumbnails are created for GIF documents in ADTS 6.5 SP3.
DTS-1508 The destination of a PDF bookmark is rotated to 90 degrees counterclockwise
in landscape pages if ADTS merges a PDF that was converted by Acrobat
and contains both landscape and portrait pages.
DTS-1144 The issue where MergePDF and CondensePDF profiles failed to generate any
PDF rendition when one of the inputs was unsupported has been resolved.

Known Problems and Limitations
This chapter identifies problems and limitations that might affect your use of the product.
Known problems
This section describes known problems in EMC Documentum software and documentation that
might affect your use of the product.
The following table lists the known problems for Advanced Document Transformation Services
6.7 SP1:
Defect # Description of known problems
AVTS-190 When a "Reset rendition” request is generated for a source file while there
is also a transformation request for a new rendition of the file, another
rendition is created. That is, while a "dm_transcode_event” item is present
in the queue, and a user requests to reset the rendition of the source file
(creating a dm_register_asset request), another dm_transcode_event gets
generated in the queue, thereby creating two renditions for the same
transformation request. The server is attempting to reset the rendition
request that is current in the queue when the reset rendition request occurs.
This occurs because the transformation request creates a dm_relation on
the object, and this relation normally gets deleted as the transformation
is done (unless the ’save transformation’ option is selected). During the
register request, CTS checks to see if there is any relation on this object,
and if there is, it creates a transformation request based on this relation.
This is for recreating all the transformations that are ’saved’ for this object.
In this specific case, the transformation request is still active, and so does
the relation, while CTS performs the register request. So CTS creates an
additional transformation request.
This scenario seems to happen consistently when "importAndAddJob"
scenario from CTSWebServices client is executed.
EMC Documentum Advanced Document Transformation Services Release Notes, Version 6.7 SP1 23
24. Known Problems and Limitations
Defect # Description of known problems
DTS-3587 After removal of CTS and DFC, some item do not ge removed from the
system.
To perform a clean removal. see the workaround in Workaround for
DTS-3587, page 25
DTS-3540 ADTS 6.7 install fails on nonsystem drives (for example, C:) on Windows
2008 64-bit host. Error received: executeAdlibInstallerEnvisionOCR200.exe2
- DiPACTSExecuteProcess failed! - DiUtil: ExecuteProcess failed to execute:
adexps.exe /start /ui_disable - The directory name is invalid.
See Workaround for DTS-3540, page 26.
DTS-3353 When a security password is entered when using the condense_Pdf profile,
an error appears in the Adlib Express Process Log: "Error: PDF Security
Enabled" and no PDF rendition is created.
See Workaround for DTS-3353, page 25.
MTS-2141 QueueProcessorContext Islands in CTServerService.xml are lost when two
products are configured to the same repository and one of them is later
reconfigured.
Workaround: Whenever a CTServerService.xml is modified, a backup
is created before being modified. A backup file with a name like
"CTSServerService.xml.bak.2” is created. Before reconfiguring a CTS
product, you can revert to the last backed up file or you can back up the
CTServerService.xml file.
MTS-2115 Office executable terminates unexpectedly. Submitting an MS Office file for
reset rendition fails. Error in CTS log but nothing in Office application log.
This issue occurs because during Office installation, the .NET programming
supportability was not enabled (enabled by default).
See Workaround for MTS-2115, page 26.
MTS-187 Commented lines in configuration files for one CTS product are removed
when another CTS product configuration programs is run on the same host.
For example, you have installed Media Transformation Services and
then commented out the pdfstoryboard MP in the CTSPluginService.xml
configuraiton file. If you then install another CTS product (such as ADTS
or DTS), the line for the pdfstoryboard plugin is removed from the
CTSPluginService.xml file.
MTS-45 The Start/Stop menu is not enabled or disabled according to the CTS
instance. When a particular CTS instance is running, the CTS admin agent
does not do anything.

26. Known Problems and Limitations
Workaround for DTS-3540
If you chose to install ADTS in a folder such as "Program FilesDocumentumCTS" on nonsystem
(for example, C:) drive, the ADTS configuration program is not installed. Therefore you cannot do
anything except remove and reinstall under a different folder (not Program Files). Use the following
procedure to remove before proceeding.
1. Reboot the computer as directed (if it is not rebooted already).
2. Stop Adlib Services (Adlib FMR, Adlib Process Manager, Adlib Exponent Connector, and Adlib
Exponent Manager).
3. Stop Adlib Express Server.
4. Remove "Documentum Content Transformation Services" using Control PannelPrograms and
Features.
Select "No, I will restart my computer at a later time" on the final step and click "Finish".
5. Remove "Express Web Services" using Control PannelPrograms and Features.
Click "OK" for any errors.
Open a cmd window and execute the following:
sc delete "Exponent Connector Service"
sc delete "Exponent Manager Service"
6. Remove "Adlib Express" from Control PannelPrograms and Features.
a. Select "Yes" for keeping Express settings.
b. Select "Yes" for rehosting Express Licenses.
c. Select "Yes" for completely removing the selected application and all of its features.
d. Select "OK" for continuing with some errors.
e. Select "Yes, I want to restart my computer now" before finishing.
7. After system restarts, delete "Program FilesDocumentumCTS" and "Program Files
(x86)DocumentumCTS" folders.
8. Reinstall ADTS in another folder ("Program Files" folder on nonsystem drive does not work).
Workaround for MTS-2115
This issue occurs because during Office installation, the .NET programming supportability was not
enabled. Follow this procedure to enable .NET programming post-installation.
1. Open Windows Add/Remove program.
2. Select Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 > Change > Add or Remove feature > Continue.
3. Expand Office Shared features > Visual Basic Application.
4. Check that Visual Basic Application is installed. If this feature is not installed, select Run From
my Computer option.
26 EMC Documentum Advanced Document Transformation Services Release Notes, Version 6.7 SP1
27. Known Problems and Limitations
Limitations
This section describes limits on the usability of current functionality. The limitations might be part of
the product design or might result from issues with associated third-party products.
The following table lists the known limitations for Advanced Document Transformation Services 6.7:
Defect # Description of limitations
AVTS-589 We do not support installation of DFC and ADTS in different locations.
DTS-3823 If you want to enable performance/throughput logging, install the
icmMetric.dar file. For information on how to download and install this
DAR file, see the EMC Documentum Content Transformation Product Suite
Installation Guide.
DTS-3724 In 64-bit environments, CTS product uninstallers require 32-bit Java. Before
invoking the uninstaller, revert the changes done after installation to Java
on the CTS host as follows:
1. Stop all services that are using Java from C:Program
FilesDocumentumJava.
2. Rename the 1.6.0_17 or 1.6.0.27 folder (whichever one is in use) to
another name (for example, 1.6.0_27_64bit).
3. Rename the 1.6.0_17_32 or 1.6.0.27_32 folder back to the original name,
either 1.6.0_17 or 1.6.0_27.
DTS-3121 No support for OpenOffice formats in a localized OS (or a localized
OpenOffice application).
DTS-2717 Problems occur with Word documents that contain commenting. The
"Use Balloons" option does not work when using only Office 2003 as the
rendering application.
DTS-1340 When converting to PDF/X, there is no preflight validation.
DTS-1320 Word Transformation to PDF with password and ’not allow printing’ and
’not allow content copy or extraction’ still allows it to be printed and copy
content. The ’Security Open Password’ and ’Security Change Password’
must be different during the document transformation to activate the
security properties.
This is a part of the PDF specification as designed by Adobe. After opening
any PDF file, and attempting to set a same password for them will result
in error. To test:
• Open any PDF file and select File > Properties > Security tab.
• Select "Require a password to open the document", and enter a password.
• Select "Restrict editing and printing of the document. A password
is required to change these permission settings" and enter a different
password. If you try to enter a same password, the operation fails.
EMC Documentum Advanced Document Transformation Services Release Notes, Version 6.7 SP1 27
28. Known Problems and Limitations
Defect # Description of limitations
DTS-1135 For any Excel sheet that does not contain any data, bookmarks are still
created in PDFs. For example, if an Excel Workbook contains three sheets
with data only in the first two sheets, it is expected that only two sheets
be included in the PDF. Clicking on this third sheet in the PDF leads the
pointer to the first page.
DTS-1113 If all files are not the same size and orientation, the condensePDF profile
does not produce accurate results . Only the whitespaces should be removed
but in the PDF rendition, data from the files might be removed. The
condensePDF profile can only remove the white space between pages of the
same size and orientation.
DTS-841 The default installation of ADTS on Windows sets a limitation on the
memory usage of a third-party library.
To correct this issue, change the Registry Settings for: HKEY_
LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREAdlibAdlib FMRAdlib
ExpressDefaultAvailMemUsageLimit Setting this value to 0 corrects all
issues.
DTS-510 ADTS is not capable of properly handling HTML files that have embedded
pictures that exceed 32kb, so HTML files with embedded pictures exceeding
32kb cannot be transformed to PDF.
Only Mozilla Firefox can support this. Internet Explorer 8 supports strings
only up to 32 kilobytes in length.
