- DISCUSS HOW GRADE CAN HELP YOU ZERO IN FURTHER ON THE FINAL LOOK… WHETHER IT’S COLOR; COLOR MIX, OR INCLUSIONS Grade can have a big impact on the look you desire. The better the grade usually the less you will find natural characteristics. Some species may appeal to you more than others, but the grade can have a significant impact on how the veneer will ultimately look.
- Solid surface materials generally consist of reacted monomers and resins, mineral fillers and pigments manufactured in sheets of specific calipers…2.7 mm (1/8”), 5.2 mm (1/4”), 12.0 mm (1/2”). Solid surface materials are solid, nonporous, homogeneous, renewable and, when applicable, may feature inconspicuous seams. Solid surface materials are free from conspicuous internal strengthening fibers.
- Simple procedures remove anything from indelible ink to spray-painted graffiti to cigarette burns. Solid surface is non-porous and what many people call stains are just sitting on top of solid surface, they have not penetrated. Here we see “stains” of permanent marker and wood stain that have been allowed to dry on the solid surface overnight. These “stains” can easily be removed with an abrasive cleanser, water and a sponge. Here we see the “stains” partially removed… and here we see the same section of solid surface with the “stain” completely removed.
- Inconspicuous seams allow a quality fabricator to easily repair damage in virtually any application.
- Acrylic: Class I Fire Rated - Pure acrylic-based resin yields material with a tight thermoforming radius…that is, it can be heated, bent into shape and cooled without any loss of performance. Polyester: Class III Fire Rated - Characterized by deep translucency of color with slightly looser thermoforming radius and is used in high-strength demanding applications, including outdoors, such as boats and aircraft cowlings Acrylic Modified Polyester: Class III Fire Rated - Combining these resins gives these products the properties of both and provides a harder material with a tighter thermoforming radius than polyester alone.
