2. What does a Distributor Do?
• A film distributed acts as a final agent between a film
production company and a film exhibitor, often securing
placement of the producers film on the exhibitors screen.
• It is either an individual company, a subsidiary company or
an individual who distributes the media.
• The distributed secures a written contract
• The contract states the total ticket sales to be paid to the
distributer
• The distributer is responsible for the promotion and
advertising resources of the film and are also in charge of
subtitling if it is a foreign film to ensure it is appropriate for
viewers all around the world.

3. Verve Pictures
• We have decided to go for the film distributor
Verve Pictures because we are independent film
makers and that are working on a low budget and
that means we are limited to our options of
distributers. Verve pictures are a successful UK
film distribution company that have a proven
track record in 1st time film making having over
75% of their films being from 1st time makers.
• One of their success stories was Bullet Boy which
made £450,000.

• Bullet Boy was a low budget independent film based
around gang culture in inner city London, Hackney where
the film was set and local people contributed to the film.
• Giving that our film included reference to gang culture and
will work on a low budget involving local people we
thought it would be ideal to work with Verve Pictures as
they have experience with this type of film and is proven to
be successful.
• Verve Pictures advertised Bullet Boy in daily and national
newspapers, tabloids and radio stations.
• We feel Verve Pictures will be a good company to use as it
has a good track record with low budget independent films.

5. How Have We Shown This In Our Film?

• We have shown that Verve Pictures have

logo at the start of our opening sequence. We
wanted to present to the audience straight
away what film distribution company we
worked with at which is why we put it at the
beginning and then we could carry on with the
opening sequence.
