This document discusses distributed routing models for modeling water flow through channels. It describes several distributed routing models with varying levels of complexity based on simplifying assumptions made in the Saint-Venant equations. The kinematic wave model neglects inertial and pressure forces, while the diffusion wave model neglects local and convective acceleration. The dynamic wave model considers all forces. Examples are provided to illustrate how to calculate kinematic and dynamic wave celerities and analytically solve the kinematic wave equations to route a hydrograph through a channel.
