Should students wear
school uniforms?
Many schools have rule that students should wear school uniforms.
Some students and parents are quite happy to follow the rule, but
others disagree.
First, people think that wearing school uniforms mean that nobody
looks smarter or more fashionable than anyone else. Students who
cannot afford the latest fashions could feel awkward or left out.
Second, the school uniforms encourage a feeling of belonging.
Wearing the same outfit can help students who are new to a school
feel like they're immediately part of the community.
Despite the reasons given above are make sense, others disagree
that students should wear school uniforms because first, wearing
school uniforms limit self expressions. Students who gain an
education within the strict limits of the uniform required by the
institution tend to have less aspirations in terms of creative
expression and may even find it difficult to determine their
individual identity apart from the group. Second, the cost of school
uniforms can be expensive. Many schools have exclusive
arrangements with suppliers which can make uniform more
expensive. Plus, school uniforms are generally not that comfortable.
In conclusion, there are many reasons both for and against wearing
school uniforms. Whatever your viewpoint, it is important that
students’ clothing is practical and every students feels comfortable
with what they are wearing.
