Domestic containment was a concept in 1950s-1960s America that promoted traditional values like patriotism, religion and the nuclear family to contain the threat of communism at home. However, this concept was destined to fail as it did not apply to the increasingly independent youth culture of the 1960s who rejected these traditional values and helped spark the social revolution of that era.
