 Direct Object can only be in a sentence where
the main verb is action.
 A direct object is a noun, pronoun, or word
group that tells who or what receives the action.
 Direct Objects answer the question what or
who after a action verb
 I plucked a flower.
First, ask:
What is the action verb?
-Plucked
Second, ask:
Who or what was “plucked”?
-A flower; A flower is the direct object.
I plucked a flower.
1. I saw him.
2. I wanted an adventure.
3. I only took a little milk.
4. You organized the race.
5. She took the loaf.
6. He offered a gift.
7. Do you need an umbrella.
8. Did she play the violin?
9. She rang the bell.
10. Could you sent a cart.

 One who receives the direct object is the
indirect object.

Action verb – make
Direct object – some tea. (answers ‘what make’)
Indirect object- you ( receiver of direct object)
 She gave the loaf to the ducks.
The loaf- direct object
The ducks- indirect object
 He gave me a cup of milk.
A cup of milk- direct object
