TARGET DURING THE PANDEMIC
6. After the economic paralysis that our country is going through
because of the Covid-19, damaging on a large scale the
Tourism, Handicraft and Foreign Trade sectors, the Regional
Direction of Tirusmo (Dircetur) has been implementing a
Digital Promotion Plan in order to achieve the reactivation of
the economy of the city of cusco.

pandemic, a regional program called "Short Tourist Circuit" is being
developed for implementation.
• The objective is to reactivate the local tourist industry, affected by the
crisis of the new Corona virus, through visits to the nearby attractions
that the nine provinces have.
• This sector will begin to operate in phase III of the economic
reactivation; in view of this, the Regional Directorate of Foreign Trade
and Tourism (DIRCETUR) has been providing technical assistance to
all the actors involved. The training is related to the application of
health safety protocols to avoid contagion by Covid-19.

12. Museo de Arte Contemporáneo
DESCRIPTION
It was founded in 1995 from the sponsorship of its Mayor
and the donation of 100 works of local artists by the
collector Dr. Luis Rivera Davalos. At present it has more
than 280 works of renowned local, national and foreign
artists. Its oldest work corresponds to the oil of Remigia
Mendoza: "Vilcanota River" (1897). It has three exhibition
halls in the Municipal Palace, one in the San Bernardo
Chapel and a craft exhibition environment in the courtyard.
ATTRACTIONS
It permanently exhibits the works of its collection and
annually holds more than 50 temporary exhibitions,
individual and collective, of renowned national and foreign

13. MUSEO HISTÓRICO REGIONAL
DESCRIPTION
Located in the colonial house of the illustrious writer and
chronicler Garcilaso de la Vega Chimpuocllo, the building dates
from the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries and was
inhabited by Garcilaso until 1560, when he left for Spain. It was
built on the Inca platforms that formed the Plaza Cusipata. With
respect to the building, the typology shows an influence of civil
Andalusian building, developing from a central courtyard, a
gallery of arches of half
point, stone balconies in the east bay and wood balconies in the
rest of the second level bay. It was intervened with restoration
processes after the earthquakes of 1650, 1950 and 1986.
ATTRACTIONS
It offers the visitor a beautiful collection of archaeological
objects from pre-Inca and Inca cultures, as well as a select
collection of colonial paintings that show us the success
achieved by Cusco artists.The collections of pre-Hispanic
archeological cultural objects evidence the Andean cultural
development, covering all periods of Andean civilization: Pre-
Ceramic, Formative Period or Early Horizon (Marcavalle and
Chanapata), Middle Horizon (Wari), Late Intermediate (Killke and
Lucre) and Late Horizon (Inca).
14. MUSEO DE ARTE POPULAR
DESCRIPTION
The Museum of Popular Art of Cusco belongs to the American
Institute of Art, an ancient and traditional cultural organization
of the city, which founded the Jubilee Week of Cusco and
rescued the Santurantikuy fair from disappearance.
It has some of the best pieces of Cusco's popular art since the
1940s, most of which were systematically acquired at the
Santurantikuy Christmas fair. The collection includes pieces by
the outstanding masters: Hilario Mendívil and family, Edilberto
Mérida, Nemesio Villasante, Santiago Rojas, Luis Acosta,
Jesús Latorre, Antonio Olave, among others.
ATTRACTIONS
It shows works like, sculptures, ceramic works, photographs
and others of the most renowned artisans of Cusco like:
Edilberto Mérida, with his grotesque art sculptures made in
clay, Hilario Mendívil, his sculptures made in rice mass,
religious style; his most important characteristic are the
images of elongated necks with drawings of flowers, the most
characteristic are the Virgin of Bethlehem and the Holy Family.
15. MUSEO DE SITIO DE QORICANCHA
DESCRIPTION
It is a small museum that has five rooms where it is
explained didactically the history of the ancestors who
lived in these lands, with pre-Inca, Inca and colonial
pieces, mostly from the excavations made in the
Koricancha (in Quechua Qorikancha, golden courtyard"),
during the period 1992-1995.
ATTRACTIONS
It shows the chronological evolution of civilization in
Cusco. It exhibits fragments and ceramics from the Inca
period as well as samples of metallurgy, textiles, painting,
sculpture, musical instruments, etc. It also presents a
model of what could have been the Qoricancha. There are
also replicas of the objects found in the excavations
carried out in the place, samples of ceramics, lithic pieces,
from the pre-Inca and Inca periods. It has five rooms
where the history of our ancestors is explained
didactically.
