The Atapuerca arqueological site.
The many caves in this site are made mostly out of limestone. It is located in the
province of Burgos, in León.
This is one of he most famous arqueological sites in the world, known for having
remains more than a million years old. It was discovered in 1981,
same year in which they started to exavate here.
The site with the oldest human remains found here is called "Sima del Elefante" (peak of the
elefant), where bits of teeth and jawbone were found.
3. It was discovered in 1868 by Modesto nCubillas and was used for 22,000
years.
The style of most of the works is characterized by the realism of the
figures represented. It contains polychrome paintings, engravings, black,
red and ocher paintings that represent animals, anthropomorphic
figures, abstract and non-figurative drawings .
It is located in the Spanish municipality of Santillana del Mar, in
Cantabria.
They weren mainly used as housing and shelter.
It was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco in 1985.

4. CASTRO OF SANTA TECLA
CASTRO OF SANTA TECLA
It is a Galician "castro" and is located at an altitude of 341 meters on the mount of Santa
Tecla.
In several of stones of the mountain there are petroglyphs made of
2000 years before the occupation the castro.

It was populate by the grovii, whose most important city would be Tude, currently Tuy.
Community economics:
The importance of cereals in the economy gives rise to numerous manual stone mills, in
the relation to fishing, 3 bronze hooke and 2 iron hooks were found. Among the craft
activities there was also the textile.
5. The Real Monastery de San Lorenzo de El Escorial it´s a singular construction of the
Renaissance, and it was designed by Juan Bautista de Toledo.
It was ordered to be built by king Felipe II after the Spanish beat the French at the Battle of
San Quentin.
It is in the autonomous community of Madrid, in the municipality of San Lorenzo de El
Escorial.
It was built from 1563 to 1584.
In the past it was a complex that includes a royal palace (now instead of being a royal
palace it is a museum that brings together an extensive collection of documents, building
material and machinery used in the construction of this monument) ,a basilica, a pantheon,
a library, a college and a monastery.
In the Real Monastery de San Lorenzo de El Escorial are the bodies of the kings and queens
of Spain, of the dynasty of the Habsburgs and the dynasty of the Bourbons (the actual
dynasty in Spain)
The visit of the museum costs 12 euros per adult and 6 per child; per student and per over
65 years old, but there are discounts for big families, but there are discounts for big families
and it could be free if you go on Wednesdays and Sundays from 15 to 18h the months of
October to March and from 15 to 19h from April to September. It is also free on May 18 and
October 12. Children under 5 years old do not pay admission.

6. The cathedral of Santiago
The cathedral of Santiago
The cathedral of Santiago was built in 1075 by the master Mateo.
The main reason it was built was to honor the apostol Santiago.
It's construction was order by de king Alfonso II, who then proceded to be the first
pilgrim.
During the Meadle ages it was one of the main destinations for pilgrims all over the
world.
It is located in "Santiago de Compostel", the capital of Galicia.
It's style ios romanic.
7. THE "SAGRADA FAMILIA" BASILICA

The basilica started being
built in 1882 by the catalan
architect Antonio Gaudí and
nowdays it's still under
construction.
It is modernist style.
It's located in Barcelona,
Spain.
The idea of
building the
temple of the "sagrada
familia" was from Josep
Maria Bocabella, inspired by
the priest Josep Manyanet.
