Dihydromyricetin (DHM) is an extract from the bark of the cedrus deodara tree that grows in China, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Tibet, and Nepal. DHM is claimed to help cure hangovers by inhibiting alcohol's effects on GABA receptors in the liver and brain. Studies on rats found that DHM-treated rats recovered mobility five minutes after a heavy dose of alcohol, versus 70 minutes for untreated rats. Researchers concluded DHM is effective at sobering due to its ability to block alcohol from activating GABA receptors. Tests on mice, rats, and humans have found no side effects other than a reduced desire to consume alcohol after taking DHM. The supplement Sobur contains D
