Digital Natives are people born between 1980-2000 who grew up immersed in technology and occupy hybrid realities. Digital Immigrants, born between 1946-1964, embrace technology to varying degrees. Other groups include Digital Aliens born 1925-1945 who are not interested in the internet, Digital Adaptives born 1965-1979 who were teens during video games and PCs, and Digital Avatars born 2000-present who have virtual relationships. Digital Natives prefer receiving multiple sources of information quickly through multitasking, visual learning, user generated content, and real-time fun learning, while Digital Immigrants prefer controlled, limited sources of information through single tasking, text/verbal before visual, and linear learning.
