This document provides information about life insurance. It begins with definitions of insurance and life insurance, then discusses the history and evolution of the life insurance industry. It also covers life insurance in Pakistan, the different types of life insurance policies, reasons to have life insurance, how insurance works, effects of insurance, and terms and conditions. Finally, it outlines the main differences between life insurance and Takaful, which is an Islamic form of insurance.
Introduction to Life Insurance-I by Dr. Amitabh MishraAmitabh Mishra
The document provides an introduction to life insurance, including:
1) Life insurance is a contract between a policyholder and insurer where the insurer promises to pay a beneficiary upon the death of the insured in exchange for premiums.
2) Life insurance policies are legal contracts that describe insured events like death, terminal illness or critical illness. Premiums are paid regularly or as a lump sum.
3) The history of life insurance dates back to ancient Rome and burial clubs. The first modern life insurance company was established in England in 1706. Key developments included the first actuary in the 1750s and the establishment of age-based premiums in 1762.
Realism is a philosophy that believes objective reality exists independently of the mind. It emphasizes that knowledge comes from experience of the material world, which can be studied scientifically. According to realism in education, the curriculum should focus on practical subjects that prepare students for real life, teaching should be direct, and assessment should objectively measure what students have learned. Both advantages and disadvantages exist, such as a focus on results but also pressure on teachers and students.
1. The document discusses bilateral transfer of learning through an experiment using a mirror drawing task. Participants traced a star shape with their dominant and non-dominant hands while looking in a mirror.
2. Results showed that it took more time and errors for initial trials with both hands as coordination between the hand and brain developed. Through practice, time and errors decreased across trials as understanding and skill improved.
3. A subsequent test found that physical practice facilitated greater bilateral transfer between hands compared to imagery training alone. Significant transfer occurred from non-dominant to dominant hand but not vice versa. This suggests imagery may support bilateral transfer but physical practice is most effective.
Risk management is the process of identifying, assessing and controlling threats to an organization's capital and earnings. These threats, or risks, could stem from a wide variety of sources, including financial uncertainty, legal liabilities, strategic management errors, accidents and natural disasters
Risks which are not capable of avoidance, prevention, reduction to a large extent or assumption may be transferred from one party to the other party. The basic objective of insurance is to transfer the risk of a person to the insurance company which has easily spread it over a large number of persons insuring similar risks. As such, for handling risks which involve large financial losses or which are dangerous, insurance is a means of shifting such risks in consideration of a nominal cost called premium.
Fire insurance protects people from financial losses caused by fires. It involves sharing fire-related losses incurred by some through contributions to a common fund by all who are exposed to fire risk. Fire insurance pays for losses that are unexpected and occur due to chance. It aims to restore the insured's financial position prior to the loss through the principle of indemnity.
Naturalism is a philosophy that believes reality is limited to nature and that supernatural or spiritual elements do not exist. It views the universe as a natural system governed by fixed laws of science. Key principles of naturalism in education include allowing children maximum freedom to develop spontaneously according to their nature, learning through first-hand experiences and play rather than books or lectures, and giving students self-government with minimal external discipline. Naturalism rejects rigid curricula and sees the teacher's role as an observer who does not interfere with the child's natural development.

Naturalism is a philosophy that believes the material world described by science is the only world. It rejects supernatural concepts and explanations, believing that nature is the ultimate reality. Naturalism is based on the principles that the universe was created through natural processes, everything can be explained by natural elements and principles, and nature is at the center. Some key forms of naturalism include scientific, physical, biological, and historical naturalism. It emphasizes science education and adjusting to one's environment. Both philosophies discuss their key exponents, principles, aims, curriculum, teaching methods, the role of the teacher and vision of school.
