Devising my Brief
The Area of Art I propose to work in
After studying cubist artist Ober-Weimar’s 1921 painting Lyonel Feininge and artwork such as Chen
© Colour Overlays and Perspective and ink – Unknown Artist, it has inspired me to create a fine art
mixed media collage of my place in question. I intend to Use many different materials to create this
2D mixed media collage. Ober-Weimar’s painting Lyonel Feininge was not mixed media however I
am really inspired bye his his cubist style of painting and has encouraged me take on the challenge
of Turing my ordinary bike shelter into a cubist angular collage.
The 3 contextual references I explored at the start of
this project (see other power point for full studies)
1. Ober-Weimar, 1921 Lyonel Feininger
2. Perspective and ink – Unknown Artist
3. Chen © Colour Overlays
The creative problem I aim to solve
• The creative problem that I aim to solve is to create a mixed media
collage which expresses the sense of complexity of the space, colour
and structure. And to explore all the shapes from different view
points and angles.
My Client/commissioner
My client is Dan Dean, he has asked a student to create a piece of art
work exploring a part of Esher college in a abstract and original way. His
expectations are for the piece is to be original and professional looking,
as he is hoping to hang this piece of art work in his office.
The Form of my Final Outcome
• The form of my final outcome will be a framed A3 2D mixed media
abstract collage of my place in question.
List of materials and medias I intended to use
for my final outcome
• Tissue paper
• Card
• Paint
• Photoshop printing
• Coloured ink
• Crayon/ wax resist
• Grass (texture)
• Fine liner
• String
• Oil pastels
• Chalk
• Charcol
