program/specialization.Consider how the information in these resources fit with your own
goals and to your becoming a scholar-practitioner.Also consider academic and professional
individuals and teams that you may collaborate with in of your efforts as a student at the
University and as a professional within your organization and careerexampleMy name is so
ans so I have been a Registered Nurse (RN) for 7 years. Spent most of my early nursing
career in the emergency room then moving on to critical care, post-anesthesia care unit, and
now home health. Prior to becoming licensed as a RN I was a certified nurse aide for four
years. I developed nursing knowledge and a solid platform of nursing foundations. With my
history of making my way up the totem pole I am motivated to earn my Masters in Nursing
Family Nurse Practitioner. My decision to choose Walden University was made solely based
on my personal goals, vision, and home life balance needs. Through research I found
Walden University to be most valuable and effective way to advance my career in Nursing.
Walden stated in its vision, “immediate solutions of critical societal challenges, thereby
advancing the greater global good (Walden University, 2011a).” This directly aligns with my
goal to be challenged and to have a wealth of knowledge so that I can accomplish a greater
good not only for myself, but for my patients, and community. Walden enables scholar
practitioners to “build connections with those who share similar goals (Walden University.
2011b)” providing a safety net and sense of security.Walden’s MSN program outlines how
to become a successful scholar-practitioner. The program shows how important it is to be
“leaders in their field through scholarship, manage technology and information, and
develop a lifelong commitment to learning (Walden University 2011c).” It is import to me
that I am current in any technology and educational updates. It is reassuring to know that
my higher learning institution also strives to have a lifelong commitment in teaching.
Academically, I plan to take advantage of the opportunities offered by Walden and the MSN
program.ReferencesWalden University. (2011a). Vision, Mission, and Goals. Retrieved
