Diet for kidney patients | Diet in kidney failurePlanet Ayurveda
Beside herbal remedies, Diet in kidney failure also play very important role for kidney patients because kidneys are not sufficient to excrete sodium, potassium etc out of body.
Onions have been used medicinally for thousands of years. They contain compounds like quercetin and isothiocyanates that have anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. Onions may help reduce symptoms of conditions like arthritis, asthma, colds, and heart disease. They also contain antioxidants and compounds that may protect against cancer and support bone and heart health. Onions should be consumed in moderation as large amounts can cause gastrointestinal issues.
A renal diet limits minerals like potassium and phosphorus as well as fluid intake for those with kidney disease. Potassium and phosphorus levels must be controlled as kidneys with reduced function cannot remove excess amounts, which can lead to health issues. Fluid intake is also restricted as damaged kidneys cannot efficiently remove extra fluid from the body. A sample meal plan outlines a 1600 calorie diet with appropriate limits of sodium, potassium, phosphorus and total fluid to manage kidney disease.

Gout & Diet | houstonkidneyclinic.com
Gout is a type of arthritis. It is caused by having too much of the
chemical, uric acid, in your bloodstream
Your diet plays an important role in both causing gout and reducing
the likelihood of suffering further painful attacks of gout.
This document discusses peptic ulcers, including their definition, types, causes, signs and symptoms, diagnosis, pathogenesis, differential diagnosis, allopathic management, and holistic management approaches like diet therapy, acupuncture, hydrotherapy, chromotherapy, massage therapy, herbal remedies, and yoga therapy. The holistic approaches aim to promote healing and repair of damaged tissue through strategies like probiotics, antioxidants, dietary polyphenols, and protective foods.
This document discusses the importance of maintaining pH balance in the body through diet. It provides definitions of food and junk food, and discusses how junk food tricks our taste buds through MSG but provides no real nutrition. While exercise is important, we can't out-exercise a poor diet. The body strives for a slightly alkaline pH but many modern foods and lifestyle factors make achieving this difficult. Ways to test pH through blood, urine, and saliva samples are described, along with factors that can affect levels. An important takeaway is that everyone requires a unique acid-alkaline balance.

The document discusses how a diet high in acid-forming foods can lead to health issues by causing acidosis in the body. It recommends consuming at least 60% alkaline-forming foods like vegetables and fruits to balance acid-forming proteins and maintain a slightly alkaline pH. Testing saliva and urine pH can indicate if the body's pH balance needs adjustment through dietary changes. Choosing more alkaline foods like vegetables, fruits, beans and switching from acidifying foods and drinks can help restore pH balance and optimal health.

Comparative Effect of Daily Administration of Allium sativum and Allium cepa ...IOSR Journals
This document summarizes a study that compared the effects of daily administration of garlic and onion extracts on alloxan-induced diabetic rats. Diabetes was induced in female rats by injecting alloxan monohydrate. The diabetic rats were divided into groups that received either garlic extract, onion extract, or saline by oral administration for six weeks. Blood samples were then analyzed for glucose and other biomarkers. The results showed that both garlic and onion extracts significantly reduced serum glucose levels compared to the untreated diabetic rats, with the garlic extract proving more potent. No significant differences were found between the extracts in terms of protecting the kidneys and liver.
The document discusses condiments and their chemical compositions. It notes that condiments are prepared food compounds that typically contain one or more spices to enhance flavor. Condiments can be simple, containing a single spice like garlic salt, or compound, containing multiple ingredients like chutney. Pepper is a common ingredient in many condiments, though the amount varies between different types. Condiments are widely consumed globally and could potentially be used to combat micronutrient deficiencies through fortification. The document also discusses the challenges of fortifying condiments like bouillon cubes with iron to maintain sensory qualities like color, aroma and flavor.
The document discusses research that has been done on legumes in several areas:
- Domestication and breeding to develop more productive and resistant varieties
- Nutrition research to understand their health benefits and use in improving human health
- Agronomy research on efficient and sustainable growing methods
- Food processing research to make legumes more versatile ingredients
It also summarizes pharmacological research showing legumes contain compounds that may help treat cancer, diabetes, heart disease and inflammation. Nutraceuticals show potential for preventing and treating hypertension and cardiovascular disease. Polyphenols from foods like cocoa, red wine, and tea may reduce cardiovascular risk by inhibiting platelet aggregation and oxidative stress. Vitamins C and E show cardiovascular benefits by reducing oxidative stress and inflammation. Compounds in tomatoes, garlic, and beetroots may lower blood pressure by increasing nitric oxide, which causes vasodilation. More research is still needed to clarify appropriate doses and effects of many nutraceuticals.
