Develop a 6-8 page reflection on your life, applying the sociological imagination and using specific sociological concepts to better understand your life experiences.
While we may not notice, society is constantly changing. For sociologists, social change is the continual change of society's culture, structure, and institutions over time. Every society experiences change—it is through this change that the norms and understandings in a society become altered. Fashion is a great example of social change, as what we wear is dependent on the culture at the time. One hundred years ago it was not common for women to wear pants. Now it is perfectly acceptable. While most women are in favor of being able to wear pants, social change is sometimes not always welcome by members of a society. Can you think of any groups or organizations in the United States that are actively opposed to some kind of social change?
Most social change is the result of conflict, demographic change, and technology.
Conflict and change: Conflict in a society (such as a war or even an election) can create significant change in a society.
Demographic change: Changes in the make-up of a population can also affect society. As the makeup of our society in terms of sex, race, age, et cetera, changes, so do many structural and cultural elements of society. How would our society be different if most of the population was under the age of 10? Or over the age of 70?
Ideas and Change: Technology is often a driving force behind social change and has brought significant changes to our society. Think back to twenty years ago—how different was society in terms of technology? How did that impact your everyday life? In our current time, our cell phone alarm wakes us up, we check our smart phone, make some coffee in our Keurig, remote start our car, and then use our navigation system to get us to work. This is a significantly different experience than we had twenty years ago.
As you reflect on your life and experiences in Assessment 6, consider how much has changed over the course of your lifetime. What are some major social changes? What do you think had changed for the better? For the worse?

Mills tells us of the intersection between public issues and private troubles. Throughout the course we have learned to use our sociological imagination to understand this difference—especially in terms of our own lives.
For your final project you will reflect on the question, "Who am I?" using the sociological imagination to understand and explain your everyday experiences. In doing so, you will look at the impact of social forces on your individual life. This requires you to apply the concepts, theories, and applicable sociological understandings that you have encountered in the course.
To successfully complete this assignment, you will write a paper with these components:
Introduction:
Introduce yourself and what you plan on discussing in your paper.
Culture and Socialization:
Examine the impact culture and socialization has had on your life. Consider the following when creating this section:
How did you develop a sense of self?
What agents of socialization had the biggest impact on you? How?
How has culture influenced your life?
Social Structure and Groups:
Discuss the impact social structure and groups have had on your life. Considering the following:
How have various groups (primary, secondary, reference, etc.) guided your behavior?
What statuses have you held? What roles have you played?
How have social hierarchies shaped your life choices?
Education:
Discuss how a sociologist would explain your experience with education. In doing so, consider the following:
What major functions have education had for you?
How has education been related to your life outcomes?
What experiences with inequality have you had in education?
Professional Field:
Discuss the main sociological issues that affect your field of study or the field you intend to study at this point in your education. Be sure to include any social changes that may impac.

Develop a 3-5 page outline of concepts you would like to apply to your own life and identify relevant scholarly sources that will help you with your application of concepts.
As you may have noticed as you have worked through earlier assessments, Sociology is applicable to our everyday lives. We can oftentimes take a sociological concept and use it to explain something that occurs in our own lives. For example, you have learned about norms and how we tend to follow the norms of a society. You can use that to explain how people behave when they are in an elevator. Most people face forward, look up at the numbers, and don't talk.
Many of your experiences can be analyzed using sociological concepts. For your final assessment, Assessment 6, you will complete a Sociology of Me and apply many of the concepts you have learned about in this course to your own life. For Assessment 5, begin to think about which concepts you would like to apply to your own experience, develop an outline, and identify appropriate resources. In order to complete this assessment, you will need to show your understanding of some additional concepts related to social structure, education, and technology/media.
We have learned how a society's culture can influence people. There are other elements in society, however, that also affect our decisions and behavior. Sociological research has found that in addition to culture, social structure and groups also significantly impact many of our individual choices. Our position in the social structure affects our behaviors, attitudes, and ideas. For example, an important element of social structure are groups. We belong to a variety of different groups. Decades of research have documented the impact of group conformity on the individual. Although people tend to often believe that they act as individuals and aren't impacted by others, research has found this is usually not the case. The Milgram experiment in your Resources is a great example. Milgram (1963) examined conformity and obedience and found that people are highly influenced by authority and the demands of conformity, even to the point that we will inflict pain on another person to obey authority.
Sociologists also study education and how it is impacted by a society's culture and structure. The purpose of education is to provide knowledge (facts, skills, cultural norms) to members of a society. In the United States, education teaches us not just skills, but also how to be effective citizens. Education transmits the dominant culture, ensuring that children understand cultural norms and values. Educational attainment impacts life outcomes—it affects our occupation, earnings, work conditions, and health. Thus, education is related to social inequality. We have a tendency to assume that education is an equalizer in the United States, but this is something that is debated by sociologists. Is education equally available to everyone? Studies suggest it is not. Social class can impa.

Philosophy of Social Work
Complete a research presentation on one contemporary social issue (for example, hunger and food insecurity, poverty and economic security, education and employment security, family structure, parenting, racial tension, legalization of marijuana, technology and the Internet, injury and pain management, military veterans) that impacts the community or a specific segment of the population and that may be addressed within the scope of the social work profession.
Present your findings as a PowerPoint presentation using slides and the notes page features of PowerPoint. Your presentation will:
•Identify individual, group or family, or community social justice and social work practices related to the social issue you identified, noting how the dynamics and situations related to that issue cross over into multiple systems (individual, group or family, or community).
•Address the social definition of the social issue or condition that affects the social system or community and the people involved.
•Analyze, in the notes section, based on behavioral theories and approaches from your course readings or other academic literature: ◦How social issues are defined.
◦Why they are identified.
◦How social workers engage with the interventions and management.
•Conclude with a summary that addresses the social work's role in helping individuals and promoting social justice and social change related to the social issue you identified, using research-based information to support the application of research to practice.
To successfully complete this assignment, you will be expected to:
1.Present an overview that describes one social issue, community, or population that may be addressed within the scope of the social work profession, noting how the issues of that population cross over and into multiple systems.
2.Address the social definition of the identified social issue or condition, and how that issue or condition affects the individual (micro) and social system or community (macro).
3.Discuss how social workers engage with interventions and management of the identified social issue or condition based on behavioral theories and approaches from your course readings or other academic literature.
4.Address social work's role in helping individuals and promoting social justice and social change with the identified social issue using research-based information to support the application of research to practice.
5.Describe the role of social work in promoting social justice and social change over time.

Therefore, full credit will require you to show all steps and work, clearly label all graphs, and
fully explain any answers that ask for an explanation.
Question 1: Analyzing fiscal policy options after a recession
Consider an economy that behaves according to the following behavioral equations (this is the
simplest version of the economy that we’ve set up in class):
𝐶 = 𝑐$ + 𝑐&𝑌(
𝑌( = 𝑌 − 𝑇
and taxes (T), investment (I), and government spending (G) are all exogenous.
GDP in 2009 was roughly $15,000 billion. During the 2009 crisis, GDP fell approximately 3
percentage points.
a. How many billion dollars is 3 percentage points of $15,000 billion?
b. What is the government spending multiplier in this economy?
c. If the propensity to consume is 0.5, by how much would government spending have
increased to prevent a decrease in output?
d. What is the tax multiplier?
e. If the propensity to consume is 0.5, by how much would taxes have to have been cut to
prevent any decrease in output?
Question 2: Comparative statics in the money market model
Does the interest rate increase or decrease in each of the following scenarios? In each case, set up
a graph to support your answer.
a. An increase in the money supply set by the central bank.
b. An decrease in nominal GDP.
c. An increase in real GDP.
Question 3: Monetary policy and open market operations.
Suppose that money demand is given by:

Use the information under each prompt to guide your responses:
Discuss a social change that you have experienced. Describe how this change impacted society as a whole and your own individual behaviors.
Was the social change positive or negative in your perspective?
Did your life get easier or harder-simplified or more complicated?
Has it been positive or negative for society?
Research a non-Western culture, and identify a recent social movement or social change they have experienced.
Describe the social change/movement, and how the social change impacted their society.
Discuss how globalization may or may not have impacted their social change. For example, consider how other societies may have influenced the social movement/change you identified OR how the social movement/change you identified impacted other societies, outside of its own.
Was the change well received or protested by the majority of social members in that society? Include examples and references to support your analysis.
Research and discuss one technological advancement that is being developed right now. Then, discuss the following:
How one of the new technologies may spur social change in your society.
How this new technology might impact cultural norms, values and practices. For example, how this new technology may change the culture of a society.
Do you believe the potential social change would be positive or negative, overall?
Think critically and discuss how technological advancement can both positively and negatively impact the social sciences, specifically sociology, and how the social sciences are studied (refer to Chapter 10: Research Applications for guidance). Specifically, discuss the following:
How studying society has evolved in response to social changes. Specifically, consider how the social change pertaining to a higher regard for human rights and ethics has made studying people easier and/or more difficult.
How studying society may continue to evolve in the future in response to social changes. Specifically, consider how ‘privacy’ as a social value is changing and how this may make studying people easier and/or more difficult.
Other considerations may include a prediction on how changes in population size, globalization, shifting cultural values, new technological advancements, etc. will continue to make studying people easier and more difficult in the future

I. INTRODUCTION to the ASSIGNMENT
Institutionalized Inequalities Persists
Sociology reveals that we live in a stratified society. An individual person’s access to social resources and opportunities varies markedly depending on numerous
factors
, including those
associated with their social location at the always intersecting systems of institutionalized inequalities. Class, race, ethnicity, gender, nationality, religion, and sexual orientation
are important predictors of patterned outcomes at the social group level, across institutions. Examining these arenas at a macro level allows sociologists to achieve a more sophisticated grasp of their workings and the larger social structural dynamics at play. This higher level thinking is also necessary to the creation of well-informed strategies designed to create new forms of justice. Half measures are arguably problematic. As Malcom X once said, "If you stick a knife in my back nine inches and pull it out six inches, there's no progress. If you pull it all the way out that's not progress. Progress is healing the wound that the blow made" (1964, but as relevant as ever today).
People Make History
Sociology also reveals that people make history. We are historical agents who help (re)produce and (potentially) transform institutions and culture moment-to-moment throughout our days perpetually. As historical agents, we have the capacity to contribute to positive change in our daily lives. A more just and sustainable world is possible and looming. “Another world is not only possible, she is on her way. On a quiet day, I can hear her breathing." (
Arundhati Roy)
Social Policy is an Excellent Avenue for Concrete and Critically Informed Social Change.
Social policy is an excellent avenue for achieving social justice
because it moves human and economic resources and facilitates enacting concrete actions for concrete change. Importantly, it allocates our combined social wealth (tax dollars, human energy). We can continue to invest policy dollars and energy into war, policing, punishment, and corporate welfare--deepening the existing social relationships and macro patterns of unequal power. Another route, already underway, is to shift our resources toward policy efforts that address social inequities at their roots, and nourish healthy communities. Your readings in the final section of the class include policy platforms that you may consider models for this paper (though your proposal will necessarily be much smaller in scope, given word count limits).
Other strategies for social change include but are not limited to
legislation
(lawmaking by representative government or other governmental bodies),
litigation
(using the courts),
research
(the work of think tanks, universities, organizations, activists),
community organizing
(movement building; awareness-building;.
Sociology is the scientific study of human behavior. Professionals i.docxbryanwest16882
Sociology is the scientific study of human behavior. Professionals in the field apply a sociological lens to examine various influences on society in order to better understand current and historical behaviors. This perspective assists professionals in examining various social structures and institutions, which are systems in society that influence human behavior, to inform their understanding of groups as well as daily interactions with diverse viewpoints. For this project, you will examine a contemporary social issue using your sociological lens. You will create a concept map, breaking the social issue that you have chosen into smaller pieces related to certain sociological concepts, describe the relationship of the concepts and smaller pieces to the social issue, and explain how the sociological concepts help you better understand the social issue. The project is divided into three milestones, which will be submitted at various points throughout the course to scaffold learning and ensure quality final submissions. These milestones will be submitted in Modules Two, Four, and Five. The final concept map and paper will be submitted in Module Seven. In this assignment you will demonstrate your mastery of the following course outcomes: Explain cultural beliefs and biases utilizing a sociological lens . Explain the influences that shape the creation of roles within society utilizing real-world examples . Draw basic connections between social inequalities and human behavior . Identify the relationship between social change and contemporary social problems through the application of basic sociological concepts Prompt You will begin by selecting your own contemporary social issue to use as the base of your project. You may use an issue from the list provided below or choose an issue of interest to you that you find in the news or media, or perhaps one you encounter in your daily life. Bullying , Crime and violence ,Drug and alcohol abuse ,Income inequality and wealth distribution You will then create a concept map to break down your selected issue into supporting sociological concepts. These sociological concepts will include: Cultural beliefs and biases ,Social roles , Social inequalities , Existing social conditions You will also explain the relationship between the sociological concepts and the social issue, describing how the concept is present in the social issue. In paper format, you will explain how the connections you made in the map between the sociological concepts and the social issue helped you better understand the social issue. This is where you will demonstrate the importance of using a sociological view when examining social issues.

It’s time to get creative! Throughout this course you have explored a variety of sociological concepts and ideas regarding the differences between real and ideal societies. The My Ideal Society project assignment allows you to create an ideal society through application of course concepts.
What is your ideal society? This is your chance to create it!
Instructions
Your final project submission should address two main questions: what is an ideal society, and how would an ideal society look when put into practice?
Utilizing the main concepts, theories, and individual aspects from our class, develop a healthy, ideal society. What would be the main components of a healthy, ideal society?
Feel free to include photos, a collage, or other forms of images of your community. Remember the images do not replace content; they are intended to enhance the project. You are not required to include them.
Project Sections (Be sure to address the following questions in each section.)
Key Components:
What are the norms, ideas, values, and beliefs within the society? How do these influence how people behave?
How do people socialize? How do the members learn the cultural rules, norms, and beliefs?
How does the society maintain social control? What rules and structure are in place to create balance and safety?
What types of social groups exist?
How does deviance play a role?
How does the society rank people according to wealth, income, race, education, and power?
What social classes exist?
What are the gender roles? Do gender roles exist? Why or why not?
Theory:
How can theories and research from the field of sociology explain what an ideal society is and assist with developing a healthy society?
Comte, Spencer, and Marx held different perspectives regarding society. Which of these perspectives fit an ideal society? Which of them fit a real society? How do they fit?
People:
How do members within the groups behave? How do they interact with each other? How do the members in minority groups engage with members from the majority? What roles do in-groups, out-groups, and subcultures play?
How do people within the society address issues of deviance? Are there consequences for harmful actions?
How can people change social positions within the ranking?
How do social classes impact how people interact? How do these impact services and goods within the society?
How do gender roles impact the daily functioning of the society? If gender roles do not exist, how do groups (families, social groups, communities) divide required tasks?
How do members in the society engage with members who are aging?
Remember to integrate the course material into the essay for academic support of your statements.
In at least 1,250 words, address the main questions, and include a well-argued introduction and conclusion.

Develop a 4-5 page analysis of your experience with gender sociali.docxkhenry4
Develop a 4-5 page analysis of your experience with gender socialization. In doing so, analyze how gender is created by society, specifically looking at children's toys and/or clothing.
Culture is the glue that holds a society together—it is what encourages the members of that society to cooperate with each other as much as possible. We learn culture through socialization, the lifelong social experience. From birth we are taught how to be members of our society.
The most common agents of socialization are our family, peers, school, and media. The family, for example, influences a child's development by such things as the way the parents hold the baby, look at it, talk to it, and respond to its needs. We take on typical gender roles from the beginning as girls are given pink clothes while boys are given blue. Family socialization is reinforced or modified by experiences at school and with peers, by the mass media, and by interaction with others. Socialization, the lifelong social experience through which we learn culture, is vital to becoming members of a society.
In this assessment, we look at the sociological concepts of culture and socialization and how they impact our behavior and attitudes.
Demonstration of Proficiency
By successfully completing this assessment, you will demonstrate your proficiency in the following course competencies and assessment criteria:
Competency 1: Examine how theory and sociological concepts apply to everyday life.
Identify gender-specific childhood clothing and/or toys.
Competency 2: Explain the basic tools of sociological inquiry.
Summarize gender socialization sources.
Explain the validity and helpfulness of gender socialization sources.
Competency 4: Analyze the influence of culture on both the individual and society.
Describe the impact of gender-specific messages towards one's self.
Analyze how gender-specific messages of childhood clothing and/or toys reflect larger societal expectations.
Competency 6: Compose text that articulates meaning relevant to its purpose and audience.
Develop text using organization, structure, and transitions that demonstrate understanding of cohesion between main and subtopics.
For this assessment, you analyze how gender is created by society, specifically looking at children's toys and/or clothing. The purpose of this assessment is twofold:
It helps you to start thinking about the impact of socialization on your life as a starting point.

Competency 2: Identify historical and contemporary influences of discrimination in U. S. culture.

Competency 6: Apply in text the standard writing conventions for the discipline, including structure, voice, person, tone, and citation formatting.
Write coherently to support a central idea in appropriate format and with few errors of grammar, usage, and mechanics.
How are different social groups portrayed in the mass media in contemporary society? How far have we come in terms of reducing or eliminating stereotypical images and portrayals of minority groups? To answer these questions, we need to place them in the context of the economic, technological, and social changes that have shaped postindustrial U.S. society and affected relationships between diverse groups in our society. For example, watching TV sitcoms and dramas today we see not only much greater diversity in cast members but also minority group members playing leading roles, something that was much less common just a few decades ago.
As you analyze how the various media forms portray cultural diversity, another thing to consider is the role of people with power in the media industry—those who make the decisions about what stories and images appear on a TV news program or magazine or newspaper article and how those programs or stories will be framed.
As you prepare to complete this assessment, you may want to think about other related issues to deepen your understanding or broaden your viewpoint. The prevalence of social media has had a huge impact on society in the area of how we tend to relate to each other and on what is considered to be normal in general. Taking a look at the ways in which social media changes attitudes and "norms" makes for an interesting study, and one that is applicable to understanding how society is slowly changing over time.
For this assignment, you will first conduct your own research on the effects of social media on societal norms (Part 1), then you will examine what has been found through previous research conducted by others (Part 2).
Part 1:
Compare and contrast the attitudes of two cohorts of people; one that consists of five people that rarely use social media and one cohort of five people that uses social media 2 or more hours a day.
Create a list of five people that you know that use social media at least 2 or more hours per day. This group of people will make up your first cohort. Then create a list of five people that you know that either do not use social media or use it very rarely. Take into account age when creating the cohorts, and try to keep the ages as similar as possible between the cohorts. Keeping a certain level of consistency in the two cohorts will help to negate the potential effects of generational differences. Provide a brief description of each of the ten people you are going to interview divided into their respective cohorts.
In other words, list the five people in the social media at least 2 or more hours a day, and provide a brief description of each along with why you chose them. Then provide a list of the five people that rarely or never use social media, and provide a brief description of each along with why you chose them.
Interview the participants to learn the similarities and differences between the two cohorts as it relates to attitudes, lifestyles, and relationships. Write a two-page paper comparing and contrasting what you learned about the two cohorts. Be sure to relate your findings to cultivation theory and socialization theory in the paper.
Part 2:
Now you will compare your research with research findings through previous research conducted by others. Look up at least 3 articles in the that relate to the topic of social media and its impact on society. You are not limited to articles that are strictly written on the specific topic of social media and norms. Articles that are covering social media and society are available from a wide number of angles. After studying these articles, write a two-page paper on what you learned on the topic of social media and its potential impact on societal attitudes, customs, and norms.

Technology & Literacy
Context & Description
Technology impacts most of our lives on a daily basis. From the smart phones we hold in our
hands to the laptops and tablets we use for school, work or leisure, technology has changed, and
continues to influence the ways in which we communicate, work, learn, and play.
While some developments in technology are well-received and widely used in effective ways that
benefit society, other developments bring about controversy and disagreement over how specific
technologies are used and to what extent. For instance, video games have become popular
among people of all generations, but its uses and effects on people and society has created
some very different views. Video games are sometimes blamed for promoting negative behavior
among children and adolescents, such as criminal activities and physical violence (Barlett, et al.,
O’Toole). Some people also argue that habitual uses of video games lead to health issues such
as addiction and obesity (Grüsser et al.). Video game addiction can also lead to sleep
deprivation and lack of concentration, and in some cases affect people’s performance at work or
school. Others argue that not all video games or all uses of video games are problematic. James
Gee, a literacy specialist and advocate for the use of video games in teaching and learning,
argues that “any learning, whether it's books, a movie, or a game, can lead to bad or good
results depending on the environment in which it's [played], not the game itself” and that good
video games can be extremely useful as a learning tool, facilitating the development of problem-
solving abilities and language skills” (Sheffield 11).
Various forms of technology have also changed what it means to be literate. In 2008, The
National Council of Teachers of English issued a statement defining twenty-first century
literacies, recognizing the role of technology in shaping the meaning of literacy: “Because
technology has increased the intensity and complexity of literate environments, the twenty-first
century demands that a literate person possess a wide range of abilities and competencies.”
Literacy in this sense includes many types of activities that are “multiple, dynamic, and
malleable”--such as reading online newspaper articles to participating in virtual class discussion
and even interacting on social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter. The goal of this
project is to critically assess the impact that a specific type of technology has had on our literacy
practices.
When we think about “literacy,” what usually comes to mind is a knowledge of reading and
writing. The story of how a person first learns to read and write can offer unique insights into
different cultures and ways of learning and knowing language. But literacy can also mean much
more than learning to read and write: when we learn a second.

Chapter 6:
Deviance
Unit Lesson
Norms and Social Control
Social interaction describes the behaviors of two or more people whereby there is reciprocal influence when
in contact with one another. Think about the last time you went out to eat. You engaged in interaction with
your dining partner(s) and with the server, and indirectly with the chef. Did you interact solely based on how
you like to act? Did you wear clothing based on what is comfortable (e.g., did you wear clothing)? Did you
bring your own soda? How you answer these questions depends somewhat on the influence you wish to have
on others, as well as your adherence to social control and norms.
In Unit II, you read about Erving Goffman’s ideas on presentation of self. We will expand on these ideas as
we discuss some of the micro-interactions that create social structure.
Goffman, a Canadian sociologist, developed what he called Dramaturgy to analyze social behavior. He
viewed interaction as analogous to the stage, arguing that we are all actors on stage, playing various
parts/roles in a performance to convince others of who we are. You have probably heard the quote from
Shakespeare, “All the world’s a stage.” According to Goffman, we actively try to control people’s impressions
of ourselves on that stage every time we are in the presence of others. Sociologists refer to the ways we
manipulate impressions as impression management.
We manage our interactions by first managing the situation in which we find ourselves. To do this, we define
the situation for our fel.

In the current project, additional resources are added at in each work activity to complete the work packages in a quickly. The resources are added to these activities to reduce the slack that may originate if the project is accomplished based on planned resources only. An earned value analysis has to be performed to keep track of a project’s performance. This type of assessment gives a general review about the performance of a project along the chosen course. It has been noted that after adding more resources for the achievement of the ventures successfully, the slack time has been decreased and the work is going on faster than planned.
Earned value management is employed in different forms to determine the performance of the projects. By using this technique, the cost, schedule and, scope of the project are integrated that in turn aids the team of project administration to calculate and evaluate fulfillment and growth of the plan (Usmani, n.d.). The measurements of earned value are utilized by all managers of the projects. There are three main components of earned value management which are
• Actual cost
• Earned value
• Planned value
Planned value
It is the value of a task to be accomplished in a specified time. Overall planned value is known as ‘Budget at completion.’ Planned value also acts as a project’s baseline (Usmani, n.d.).
Actual cost
Actual cost denotes the quantity of money which is i.

Discuss sociological concepts or theories appropriate for understanding the portrayal of diversity in the media.

You are encouraged to consider the questions below and discuss them with a fellow learner, a work associate, an interested friend, or a member of your professional community. Note that these questions are for your own development and exploration and do not need to be completed or submitted as part of your assessment.

Instructions

Writing Project 2: Critical Evaluation Essay

As an advocate, you are also accountable for promoting equitable services and quality care for the diverse community.
Nurses work alongside first responders, other professionals, volunteers, and the health department to safeguard the community. Some concerns during a disaster and recovery period include the possibility of death and infectious disease due to debris and/or contamination of the water, air, food supply, or environment. Various degrees of injury may also occur during disasters, terrorism, and violent conflicts.
To maximize survival, first responders must use a triage system to assign victims according to the severity of their condition/prognosis in order to allocate equitable resources and provide treatment. During infectious disease outbreaks, triage does not take the place of routine clinical triage.
Trace-mapping becomes an important step to interrupting the spread of all infectious diseases to prevent or curtail morbidity and mortality in the community. A vital step in trace-mapping is the identification of the infectious individual or group and isolating or quarantining them. During the trace-mapping process, these individuals are interviewed to identify those who have had close contact with them. Contacts are notified of their potential exposure, testing referrals become paramount, and individuals are connected with appropriate services they might need during the self-quarantine period (CDC, 2020).
An example of such disaster is the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020. People who had contact with someone .

Develop a 6-8 page reflection on your life, applying the sociolo.docxkhenry4
Demonstration of Proficiency

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Develop a 6-8 page reflection on your life, applying the sociologi.docx
1. Develop a 6-8 page reflection on your life, applying the
sociological imagination and using specific sociological
concepts to better understand your life experiences.
While we may not notice, society is constantly changing. For
sociologists, social change is the continual change of society's
culture, structure, and institutions over time. Every society
experiences change—it is through this change that the norms
and understandings in a society become altered. Fashion is a
great example of social change, as what we wear is dependent
on the culture at the time. One hundred years ago it was not
common for women to wear pants. Now it is perfectly
acceptable. While most women are in favor of being able to
wear pants, social change is sometimes not always welcome by
members of a society. Can you think of any groups or
organizations in the United States that are actively opposed to
some kind of social change?
Most social change is the result of conflict, demographic
change, and technology.
Conflict and change: Conflict in a society (such as a war or
even an election) can create significant change in a society.
Demographic change: Changes in the make-up of a population
can also affect society. As the makeup of our society in terms of
sex, race, age, et cetera, changes, so do many structural and
cultural elements of society. How would our society be different
if most of the population was under the age of 10? Or over the
age of 70?
Ideas and Change: Technology is often a driving force behind
social change and has brought significant changes to our
2. society. Think back to twenty years ago—how different was
society in terms of technology? How did that impact your
everyday life? In our current time, our cell phone alarm wakes
us up, we check our smart phone, make some coffee in our
Keurig, remote start our car, and then use our navigation system
to get us to work. This is a significantly different experience
than we had twenty years ago.
As you reflect on your life and experiences in Assessment 6,
consider how much has changed over the course of your
lifetime. What are some major social changes? What do you
think had changed for the better? For the worse?
Demonstration of Proficiency
By successfully completing this assessment, you will
demonstrate your proficiency in the following course
competencies and assessment criteria:
Competency 3: Explain the significance of social inequality for
the individual and society.
Explain one's own educational experience from a sociological
perspective.
Competency 4: Analyze the influence of culture on both the
individual and society.
Examine the impact of culture and socialization on one's own
life.
3. Competency 5: Analyze the impact of social change on society
and social institutions.
Analyze the impact of social structure, social change, and
groups on one's own life.
Explain sociological issues that affect one's own field of study.
Analyze the role of technology and media in one's own life.
Competency 6: Compose text that articulates meaning relevant
to its purpose and audience.
Develop text using organization, structure, and transitions that
demonstrate understanding of cohesion between main and
subtopics.
For this assessment, reflect on the question, "Who am I?" and
conduct a micro-level analysis to explain and analyze your
everyday experiences. In doing so, you will look at the impact
of social forces on your individual life. Using your sociological
imagination requires you to apply many of the concepts,
theories, and applicable sociological understandings that you
have encountered in the course.
Deliverable
Reflect on your everyday experiences that relate to concepts
4. encountered in this course. For example, have you encountered
any element of inequality in your life? Have you encountered

Introduce yourself and what you plan on discussing in your
paper.
Culture and Socialization:

Analyze the impact of social structure and groups on your life.
Include the following:
How have various groups (primary, secondary, reference, et
cetera) guided your behavior?
What statuses have you held? What roles have you played?
5. How have social hierarchies shaped your life choices?
Education:
