4. KULLU DUSSEHRA
• Dussehra in Kullu valley is a much-awaited and celebrated festival. This week-long
festival starts with a procession of Lord Raghunath, along with other deities, carried on
a Ratha across the town. The village gods and minor deities are also a part of the breathtaking
celebration. The centre of the festivities is the Dhalpur maidan. The pleasant weather and
breathtaking beauty of the valley along with the celebrations fill the visitors with eternal
happiness and satisfaction. The festival gets merrier with dancing, drinking and feasting for a
week. The Kala Kendra festival is held at night where several activities and cultural events take
place. Thousands of people from all over the country and world visit this place during Dussehra.
5. SHIVARATRI IN MANDI
• Mandi Shivaratri Fair is an annual renowned international fair that is held for 7 days starting with the Hindu festival of
Shivaratri, in the Mandi town of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh.The festival’s popularity is widespread and
hence is known as an international festival. In view of the large number of gods and goddesses that are invited to
the festival from its 81 temples, Mandi town has the title of ‘Varanasi of the Hills’.
6. DOONGRI FESTIVAL
• The Doongri festival is organized on the auspicious occasion of Basant Panchami.It is also
popularly known as the Hadimba Devi Fair. The festival lasts for three days. It is organized at
the Hadimba Temple, situated in the sacred Dhungri Forest in Manali. The Doongri festival is an
important occasion in the lives of the people here, who dress in beautiful traditional attires to
honor and worship their deity. This festival is held in May every year.
7. PHULAICH FESTIVAL
• The 16th day of the Hindu month of ‘Bhadrapada’ marks the striking beginning of the Phulaich
festival. Natives of the stunning and mesmerizing land call it the festival of flowers. This is the
festive season when the whole valley is adorned with dotted flowers. This exciting and lively
festival is also celebrated to commemorate them who have left the world. Wine, rice and foods
are offered to the deceased people. Foods are given to the poor people later. The villagers dance
and celebrate the festival under the trees during the festival days. They are dressed up in
colorful attires. All the deities are brought back to their original abode (temple) on 23rd day of
the Bhadrapada.
8. SAZO FESTIVAL
• Sazo is an ancient festival celebrated in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh. It is famous for its exotic rituals,
grand cultural celebrations and lip-smacking feasts. The locals believe that during this festival, the deities go to
heaven for a short period of time.
9. PARVATI VALLEY MUSIC FESTIVAL
• The Parvati Valley Music Festival is the most brilliant Kasol New Year party that let
you welcome the New Year in style! It aims to help you celebrate your freedom and
individuality through a blend of music, dance, and art. A major hit every year, this
festival bring to the floor different famous artists from different countries, along
with plenty of renowned musicians, yogis, dancers, entertainers
10. PORI FESTIVAL IN LAHAUL
• The Pori Festival is an annual festival in the northern state of Himachal Pradesh in India. It is
celebrated in the Lahaul Valley on a grand scale and the celebration is remarkable on so many
levels. Lord Trilokinath inside the temple is bathed with yogurt and milk by priests as well as the
devotees who come from local as well as neighboring states to offer their prayers to the lord
itself, a beautiful horse is made to walk around the temple, wherein it is believed that the lord
11. HALDA FESTIVAL
• This festival is celebrated by the Lamas in January. Halda is a festival of lights celebrated in Magha Poornima. On
this auspicious occasion, twigs and branches of Juniper tree are tied together and used as a torch. In the evening,
every household lights this torch and the people gather at a common location in the village. A special ceremony is
performed and offerings are made to local deities for prosperity and wellbeing of all the villagers.
12. SHOOLINI MATA FAIR
• Goddess Shoolini is taken out of her temple in an extravagantly ornamented palanquin.The
procession passes through different locales of Solan and everywhere it is escorted in a very
ostentatious manner. The Mata Durga Temple of the Ganj Bazar is the ultimate destination of
Goddess Shoolini which is regarded to be the abode of her sister Durga Devi. The Goddess
Shoolini halts at her sister's place for three days and then returns to her own domicile.The
return journey of the Goddess to her own temple is celebrated on the last day of Shoolini Mela.
