PRESS
PRESS
 News reports that are printed are meant to
provide information that is supposed to be
  truthful or factually

 But,when “news” is published in favour of
a particular politician by selling editorial
space, the reader is misled into believing
that an advertisement is a “news” story
that is truthful, fair and objective.
NEWS RELATED TO PAID MEDIA
Court restrains media in Aarushi murder case
“Must not indulge in such character assassination”
Asks the ASG to find out who was leaking such reports
Matter posted for further hearing on August 19 New
Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday by an interim
order restrained the print and the electronic media
from carrying reports relating to the Aarushi murder
case which might have the effect of prejudicing the
investigation or affecting the reputation of the victim,
accused or any person connected with the case.
 DIRTY FACE OF COMMERCIALIZATION
  OF THE PRESS.

 MEDIA TRIES TO SENSATIONALIZE
  EVERY UNIMPORTANT AND BLATANT
  THING.

 MEDIA ASK INSENSITIVE QUESTIONS
 EXAMPLE OF OM PURI: WHEN OM
  PURI’S WIFE RELEASED HER
  BIBLIOGRAPHI

 MEDIA REPORTS THE NEGATIVE STUFF WITH THE HIGH LEVEL
  OF ENTHUSIASM
 Another example :RAHUL MAHAJAN
kicked ,punched his wife dragged her
  by her hair.

 We really don't believe that the
reporter wanted an answer to that
  question.

 media has the negative effects on
children, adult, youth and the whole
  society

 The reporting is such that our country has nothing good
happening within its borders. This poor reporting makes us
  lose faith in our country.
TELEVISION
   MEDIA
TRADIONAL REALITY

 SHOWS SHOWS
Traditional SHOWS
 TV serials affect the relationship between the families.

 Watching intense emotions on TV leaves a long lasting
  impact on one’s mind.

 Excessive watching of TV leads to detrimental to ones
  physical and mental health.

 People become unable to manage their time for
developing good habits like reading, socializing, etc.
REALITY SHOWS
 The first Effect of reality TV shows deals with the age group of the
  most likely viewers – TEENAGERS.

 Content depicted includes violence and adult content in TV do
  have negative impact on viewers.

 Delusion that their appearance should mirror the people they see
  on reality shows.

 It develops the spirit of Power & Influence , Survival & Outwitting,
  Revenge & honor, etc.
MOVIES
SMOKING IN MOVIES
 Smoking in movies continues to influence youth to
become addicted to one of the most deadly products
legally available for consumption. A study released in
the journal Archives of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine
shows a direct link between viewing smoking in movies
  and established adolescent smoking.
 According to the study, youth that are exposed to
movies smoking double their risk of becoming
established smokers, who are at high risk to suffer the
  consequences of adult tobacco addiction.
 Nearly five-thousand U.S. adolescents aged 10 to 14
years were followed over a period of two years to
determine their exposure to movie smoking and
whether they were considered “established smokers,”
which researchers defined as the adolescent having
smoked more than 100 cigarettes in their short lifetime.
 At the beginning of the study, 5,637 (90 percent) of the
teens had never smoked, while 33 (0.5 percent) had
smoked more than 100 cigarettes. By the two-year
follow-up survey, 125 of the participants had become
established smokers. Adolescents who were below the
midpoint of movie smoking exposure were less likely
than teens who were above the midpoint to have
  smoked more than 100 cigarettes.
VIOLENCE IN MOVIES
In 2005, researchers at the Indiana
University School of Medicine found
that non-aggressive teenagers who
were exposed to high levels of
movies violence had similar brain
activity as aggressive teenagers who
had been diagnosed with disruptive
behavior disorder. The non-
aggressive teenagers who were
exposed to movies violence had the
same reduced frontal lobe activity
as those teenagers who had
behavioral problems. The teenagers
that were not exposed to movies
violence had more activity in the
frontal lobe, meaning that they had
better self-control and higher
attention spans.
NEGATIVE BODY IMAGE
Teenagers today are faced with many pressures to
conform to a specific body type that society expects us to
obtain. This increasing pressure causes young people to
have a distorted idea of body image and many men and
women are becoming more thin in order to look like what
is acceptable. The emphasis that movies puts on body
image is affecting teenagers in a negative way by making
them feel insecure about their own bodies and giving
them false images of unrealistic body types that
teenagers assume they must achieve in order to be
accepted by society.
EFFECTS ON CHILDRENS
Childrens between the
ages of 6 and 12 still
have a lot of
development to go
through. Is the media
around them affecting
them more than we
think?
Childrens today are
influenced by so many
different things.
Television, video games
plays a major part in it.
Development That May Affect
Motor development- the acquisition of
skills involving movement.
Physical development- body
proportions.
Neurological development- changes
that are going on in their brains.
Cognitive development- their ability to
reason change over time.
Moral development- how does their
background affect them.
Language development- speech
Social development- interaction
Sex-role development- learning about
their gender.
How Television Affect our kids
Television can influence our childrens in
many ways.
Our childrens these days watch on
average 25 hours per week or 3 ½ hours
a day .
This much television can affect childrens
ideas about body image and gender
identity.
Reading comprehension and child
obesity are affected.
We are adding to the outrageous
statistics of child obesity if we allow this
to happen?
AACAP.org (American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry)
point out some good points about television and violence.
Extensive viewing of television violence causes greater
aggressiveness.
Sometimes, watching a single violent program can increase
aggressiveness.
Childrens who view shows in which violence is very
realistic, frequently repeated or unpunished, are more likely to
imitate what they see.
Childrens with emotional, behavioral, learning or impulse control
problems may be more easily influenced by TV violence.
The impact of TV violence may be immediately evident in the child's
behavior or may surface years later.
Young people can even be affected when the family atmosphere
shows no tendency toward violence.
Video games
Video games are just another form
of movies that affects our childrens
today.
It started out that video games were
cute cartoon characters.
With the technology evolving they
have turned into very graphic
games.
This is what draws the childrens in.
Every year it seems that they come
out with a system that has even
better graphics then the one before
it.
The games also have become more
hostile and disrespectful then ever.
How Video Games Affect our kids
Over-dependence on video games could foster social
isolation, as they are often played alone.
Practicing violent acts may contribute more to aggressive
behavior than passive television watching. Studies do
find a relationship between violent television watching
and behavior.
Women are often portrayed as weaker characters that are
helpless or sexually provocative.
Game environments are often based on plots of violence,
aggression and gender bias.
Many games only offer an arena of weapons, killings,
kicking, stabbing and shooting.

By the two-year follow-up survey, 125 of the participants had become established smokers. Adolescents who were below the midpoint of movie smoking exposure were less likely than teens who were above the midpoint to have smoked more than 100 cigarettes.

This increasing pressure causes young people to have a distorted idea of body image and many men and women are becoming more thin in order to look like what is acceptable. The emphasis that movies puts on body image is affecting teenagers in a negative way by making them feel insecure about their own bodies and giving them false images of unrealistic body types that teenagers assume they must achieve in order to be accepted by society.

Extensive viewing of television violence causes greater aggressiveness. Sometimes, watching a single violent program can increase aggressiveness. Childrens who view shows in which violence is very realistic, frequently repeated or unpunished, are more likely to imitate what they see. Childrens with emotional, behavioral, learning or impulse control problems may be more easily influenced by TV violence. The impact of TV violence may be immediately evident in the child's behavior or may surface years later. Young people can even be affected when the family atmosphere shows no tendency toward violence.

Practicing violent acts may contribute more to aggressive behavior than passive television watching. Studies do find a relationship between violent television watching and behavior. Women are often portrayed as weaker characters that are helpless or sexually provocative. Game environments are often based on plots of violence, aggression and gender bias. Many games only offer an arena of weapons, killings, kicking, stabbing and shooting.
