This is a PowerPoint of a place I visited in India with Primary Source, a global institute in Watertown, MA. Akshaya Patra is an organization started by the Hari Krishna movement to create clean kitchens to feed students in schools of need. Akshaya Patra has created jobs for women and have fed thousands of children across India. Feel tummies, and you will feed their minds.
Akshaya Patra is an Indian organization that provides healthy meals to students in schools with the most need all over India. This is a visit to one of the "clean kitchens" in Jaipur.
Seruds Orphanage for Girls and Orphanage for Boys were started in January 2012. We started with 5 children in 2012. Today we have 25 girls and 35 boys. The Children’s Homes are spread across 3 floors. The children are orphans, rescued street children found by volunteers, or come from very poor families or have single parents who cannot give them proper education and food. Our children call it their home. Indeed we work hard to make it so. After they have lost so much, they deserve all the security and love any normal home provides Orphanage has 2 desktop computers and 1 laptop. The children are given training in computer skills by a volunteer faculty.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

4. SHINDEWADI MUMBAI PUBLIC SCHOOL
Shindewadi Mumbai Public School started in April 2009. The school
has classes in Jr. KG through 6th grade.
Shindewadi Mumbai Public School offers a unique program where
children learn through multiple intelligences.
Teachers assess students regularly and then decide upon a course of
action basing on this assessment data.
In the last two years, the Shindewadi Public Schools has invested in
parents as equal stakeholders in the school through monthly
meetings, a parent-teacher association, and informative sessions with
the parents.
In Shindewadi, we believe in the holistic development of our children
and a form of teaching which does not restrict itself to just
textbooks .
Everyone comes together to ensure high student
achievement
6. JOY OF GIVING
The Joy of Giving Week is India's "festival of giving"! Launched in 2009,
the festival is celebrated every year, in the week including Gandhi
Jayanti, i.e., October 2-8, and brings together Indians from all walks
of life, to celebrate "giving".
Millions of people give their time, money, resources or skills back to
society- by creating or participating in "events" of their choice. A
giving event could be as simple as a family taking out the maid's
children for an ice-cream party, or as large as the Design For
Change Contest that had 200,000+ school children across India
participating and volunteering to make a difference.
Joy of Giving Week is a volunteer driven project and their motto is
simply to spread some happiness encouraging millions across the
world to spare sometime from their lives and contribute to greater
good.
Shindewadi will be participating in Joy of Giving Week in our School by
participating a Design for Change Project.
8. DESIGN FOR CHANGE
Design for Change is the largest global movement designed to give
children an opportunity to express their own ideas for a better world
and put them into action. Children and adults learn through the
Design for Change Challenge that “I Can” are the two most powerful
words a person can believe. It enables children to assume
responsibility from a very young age and help bring about a change
in society.
Our aim with this project is to sensitize our kids to issues around them
and teach them the importance of sharing no matter how little you
have.
We believe it is this thinking and approach which will one day transform
them into unique adults.
For the Shindewadi Design Project, we have decided to help Bal Anand:
World Children Welfare Trust India.

TRUST INDIA
World Children Welfare Trust India is a licensed NGO registered under
Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950, Orphanages and other Charitable Homes
(Supervision and Controls) Act, 1960 and Juvenile Justice (Care and
Protection )Act, 2000.
It was set up in 1984 to receive shelter and rehabilitate orphaned,
abandoned and destitute minors by the way of adoption. First Children’s
Home- Bal Anand was commenced in 1984 with 8 children in residential
care. Additional centres, Bal Ashraya and Bal Uday Shishu Greh were set
up in Nagpur and Bhandara respectively. About 20 special children are
under care of Bal Anand.
It is an environment that provides the child warmth, care and material
comforts of a home and family until an adopting family is found. Though
it is nearly impossible to find an adoption family for the special needs
children. Many of these children are being schooled at special
institutions – Sulabha School for Mentally Retarded and National Centre
for Cerebral Palsy – now known as National Resource Centre for
Inclusion- India.

These children need food, medicines, clothes and toys. We are
feeling upset as the family members don't care about these children.
13. OUR TRIP TO BAL ANAND
Bal Anand utilises close to 1500 diapers in one day. They have a long
list of monthly medicinal needs and hygiene products. Certain
medicines are patient specific and others come under the category
of general everyday needs. Similarly, they cook 3 healthy meals a
day for 54 kids.
Additionally, the new born babies need specific baby food. There is also
an immense requirement of clothes, toys and stationery. In today’s
day and age where it is hard to raise one child Bal Anand is
providing for 54.

WERE CHOSEN AND INCLUDED IN THE PRESENTATION.
3. THE CHILDREN TOOK THE INITIATIVE TO INVOLVE THE LOCAL COMMUNITY FOR
COLLECTING THE VARIOUS ITEMS REQUIRED.
(Many students spoke to their parents about the issue, some of them sacrificed their
toys to collect money for the lesser privileged kids.)
21. OUR RESULTS
1. VARIOUS INDIVIDUALS FROM ALL OVER THE COUNTRY CONTRIBUTED
GENEROUSLY TOWARDS OUR CAUSE, AND WITH THE EFFORTS OF
OUR CHILDREN, WE RAISED A TOTAL OF INR 40,000.
2. AMONGST THE CORPORATES, KENITH AND LAW DECIDED TO
SUPPORT US IMMENSELY AND COLLECTED FROM ALL OF THEIR
