ABSTRACT
The project aims at designing and implementing an automated system that helps improve the
storage and maintenance of huge data related to the examinations held in the college. Since
the current system is manually maintained, there are a lot of chances of erroneous collection
of student data in the results and hence, there is a need for a system that manages these large
data in a more efficient manner. The idea is to design a system that enables the administrator
or person-in-charge to maintain this database. A system that gives out a result transcript at the
end.

1. INTRODUCTION
The current management of the examination results is done manually, and hence, is a large and
hectic procedure. Having a standard software that enables the maintenance of the same is the
need of the hour. The project aims at creating a system that helps maintain students’ databases
related to their examination performances and automatically calculates the marks and grades.
It also finally prints out the over-all result of the student automatically. The system will help
avoid any errors that manual handling of the same might lead to.

2. LITERATURE SURVEY
There have been various attempts previously to create software that catered to the needs
of colleges and universities in terms of examination management. Many universities
have customized and some have even developed their own software for the same. Each
is unique in the conception, design and implementation.
2.1 Literature Survey Sub Topic 1
Cloud-based examination management system and intelligent examination
management system has been designed and customized by Creatrix campus. They
provide end-to-end automated exam management systems for schools and colleges
with complete confidentiality.
2.2 Literature Survey Sub Topic 2
Think! Data Services Ltd. Also provides solutions like automated examination
system that helps manage student data and test results to actually administer the
tests on paper.
3 OBJECTIVE
To create a system software that enables the examination department to handle the large
databases of students.

4 PROPOSED WORK
The requirements will be collected from the college authorities in charge of the
examination.
According to the different requirement specifications, the modules will be prepared.
The data collected will be used to make a working system that will handle the reports of
the students and print out a transcript at the end that includes the grades of student obtained in
each course in the semester and maintains the same throughout all the semesters for the
student.
5 METHODOLOGY
The data will be collected from the actual college authorities who will specify their needs
according to the current system.
The modules will be prepared keeping in mind the full implementation of Software
Engineering and Object Oriented Modelling and Design concepts.
The front end will be of Java applets and the back- end will be of Oracle.
SPECIFICATIONS:

6 PLANNING AND SCHEDULE
Concise planning for project execution must be stated. Detailed weekly and monthly
schedule is given. The entire project work is divided in several sub parts and the schedule is
prepared as per the work priority and apply software engineering method of showing Gantt
chart.

7 POSSIBLE OUTCOME
Student specific outcomes(Learning Outcomes):
Hands-on experience in database management at a higher level.
Better understanding of Java.
Project specific outcomes :
At the end of this project, we’ll have a software suitable to current needs. The
software will help the college’s examination system hugely and contribute to hassle-
free management of student data. The working project can be implemented for the
college.
