POLITICS
Cultural, Social and Political
Institutions

by ties of marriage and blood. They mingle with each other
as father, mother, children, and siblings. Family entails the
parent-child relationship that provides emotional and
psychological security brought by warmth, love, and
companionship.
ARTICLE 149- FAMILY CODE
FAMILY
TYPES OF FAMILY
Nuclear Family
-it is composed of a couple, commonly called
father and mother, and their children, It can also
be termed as conjugal family.
Extended Family
-it is the extension of the nuclear family established
by a unilineal descent group that could either come
from paternal or maternal ancestry.
Blended Family
-describes families with mixed parents: one or both
parents remarried, bringing children of the former
family into the new family.
-is a socially or ritually recognized
union or legal contract between
spouses that establishes rights and
obligations between them, between
them and their children, and
between them and their inlaws.
MARRIAGE
TYPES OF MARRIAGE
MONOGAMY
is the practice of having only one spouse at one
time. In some cases, monogamy means having
only one spouse for an entire life span.
POLYGAMY
The term polygamy is a Greek word meaning “The practice
of multiple marriages.” It is a marriage pattern in which an
individual is married to more than one person at a time.
POLYGYNY
is the practice of one man having more than one
wife or sexual partner at a time. Some religions
have historically allowed polygyny.
POLYANRY
-involves one woman having multiple husbands,
within polyandry, there are many variations on the
marriage style.
SAME SEX MAARIAGE
-practice of marriage between two men or between two
women.
Example:LGBTQ
ARRANGED MARRIAGE
-is a relationship established by the
parents or other interested parties often without
consent from the couple involved.
as a social group residing
in a definite locality and
sharing the same
government, culture, and
heritage, can be construed
to have originated from the
family.
COMMUNITY
Of all the elected
presidents of the
Philippines,
Who might be your
ideal leader and
WHY?
-Politics is associated with how
power is gained and employed to
develop authority and influence on
social affairs.
-It can also be used to promulgate
guiding rules to govern the state. It is
also a tactic for upholding
collaboration among members of a
community, whether from civil or
political organizations.
According Webster: Politics is an art
of science
Max Weber believes that a political
institution must rest on a stable
form of power if it is to function and
survive. This more stable form of
power is authority.
Charismatic authority arises from a leader’s characteristics. Charismatic
leaders lead through the power of strength of their personalities or the
feelings of trust they inspire in a large number of people.
In the past, most states relied on traditional authority - in which the
legitimacy of a leader is rooted in custom. Early kings often claimed to
rule by the will of God or divine right.
In this type of government, power resides in the offices
rather than in the officials. Power is assumed only when
the individual occupies the office.
